Where are they?

 

They are at ~14k ft. In the shot below I'm heading towards Denali at ~30 deg. The arrow is pointing to the approximate location of the tents. It is one of the basecamps used for those attempting to summit Denali. Compare it to the picture with the routes and labeled basecamps.

 

 

 

 

This is an interesting tidbit from NOVA of the area -

 

Fourteen Medical

This camp, a small village of tents, will serve as our Advance Base Camp, set on a large plateau at just above 14,000 feet. All West Buttress expeditions use this camp for acclimatization and as a staging area for the upper mountain. The National Park Service has a large medical tent here for their rescue and medical operations.

Sure looks that way (i thought the same when first seeing the tents pic).

 

I took off the opposite direction the Super Cub is flying in the first pic... but to land (for me) the Super Cub would be on a tight left base... turning final close to (and parallel) the sharp rise in terrain. I remember having problems with the surface on that straight-in (as seen in the pic).

 

This was also the mission to get the beta-tester badge.

Plan was created in Plan-G and is saved in FSX .pln format for compatibility.Load up into Gmap and enjoy. .. it's possible to land and take off from the Plateau.
