July 10, 201213 yr I just ordered my first 10" Android tablet and wondered if anyone is using such a tablet to display the main analog panel gauges, similar to Project Magenta or ProPit? I envision the tablet functioning as a second monitor (hopefully via USB to get good performance) and dragging a window with the main gauges over.. That would just leave the scenery display on the main monitor, along with possible popups of the radio stack / GPS.. Bert
July 10, 201213 yr Splashtop XDisplay is the best app I've used for adding a tablet as a monitor, but is currently iPad only. On my Android tablet I have only used the FSMovMap app so far but it's early days for this platform. With time there should be more apps!
July 10, 201213 yr Author OK - patience is key, I guess, but that sounds encouraging! Attached a trial setup of what I am aiming for, for now with a spare monitor, instead of a 10" tablet.. Bert
July 13, 201213 yr Author Little update.. I got my tablet - really nice! Using the AirDisplay app, I can get the undocked six pack window to show (although it goes away when switching to full screen mode, unlike the actual second monitor test above). Unfortunately, the update rate is about 1 fps which is not too great.. I'm hoping someone can come up with a USB connection.. For that, the touch screen works for the GNS buttons, so that looks promising! Bert
July 13, 201213 yr Commercial Member For around $130 you could have picked up a 10" touchscreen display that can plug in as a 2nd monitor, thus you would not get the blanking out in full screen and no refresh performance issues. Varjo and HP VR headsets for mixed reality.
July 13, 201213 yr Author Yes, that is likely the better option - unless Project Magenta comes up with an Android app via WideFS.. that would put less of a load on the FSX computer and give the tablet something to do! Bert
February 24, 201412 yr Old topic, but nevertheless https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.vrs.flightgauge
February 24, 201412 yr Author Yes, I now have that installed and it is very good! Much better performance than a "second screen" solution.. Bert
