Hi Guys! Fresh user...

Featured Replies

I'm tired, highly disappointed, but that's certainly not the only reason I finally made my mind and decided to go Xplane10.

It would be a long story, so, I'll make it short - I think for now Xplane10 is the only investment really worth the while. Just got mine :-) and plan to install it during the weekend...

I've been an observer, a critic, bought v8 long ago, had some hard discussions with Austin in the past, I know Xplane10 is still in beta, but the truth is, there is a dedicated team behind it... I made my bet! Hope it is for good.... Surely it'll be :-)

Thx Rob!

My dual layer dvds, on a metal box (Whow!) are on it's way... Meanwhile, should i install and then get the latest stable version from xplane.com and install over it?

I'll do my best to enjoy the certainly many good aspects of Xplane10. I'll do my best to contribute to it's future - looked to me like the most promising platform...

I will restrict my add-ons to just a few, a couple maybe, to save $$$ - Xplane was expensive!!! I'll try to pick the best :-)

Hello and welcome !

I would use the latest DVD installer from here:

http://www.x-plane.c...taller-updater/

Then, use the same installer again each time you want to update. You'll have the choice to install only stable versions or also betas. For the news about new releases, you can visit this page:

http://wiki.x-plane.com/Beta

If you want to test a new beta or new version, always use a demo or a copy of your X-Plane folder.

For the news about future versions or very good tips, visit this page:

http://developer.x-plane.com/

And here's my favorite website for news and add-on reviews:

Happy flying ! B)

Let us know what you find about X-Plane Flight Model, since I know you're always trying to find the best sim in this category. I recommend you using http://osm2xp.com/ to get the most up to date data from the OSM maps to X-Plane, made a huge difference here for me, and it's so easy.

I'll try hard to adapt to those problems I have long struggled against, here and at the xplane.org forums, during many years and xplane versions. The truth is we do have a team, an active and talented team behind the scene, and we can actually talk to them....

This means FUTURE for me :-)

Every flight simulator has its own issues... Elite flight model has good fidelity in terms of climb/cruise/descent performance, but last time I tried it, the feeling of the flight model was much less than every other flight simulator I tried (much, much more on rails than FS2004... For example, short mode period was non existent, IIRC), not to talk the fact that basically there is no flight model outside the normal flight envelope, and an extremely simplified ground model.

Both FSX and X-Plane have their own set of issues with flight and ground models. At least Austin said X-Plane flight model will continue to be improved even during the v10 run.

Inertial coupling was finally addressed in v10, now in theory X-Plane is capable of modeling realistic spins. Even too much, since we went from a situation in which spins were not possible (before v10), to one in which flat spins are too easy to achieve (I think you can flat spin the C172 in v10).

"Society has become so fake that the truth actually bothers people".

Good to see everyone welcome you Jose, good luck with xplane adventures!

There's a massive freeware and payware world to discover. Yes, glad we keep in touch, it'll be fun for all.

Yes Simon, one additional reason to poll Xplane10's Blog even more often :-)

Thanks for the excellent material you feed it with daily!!!!
