August 3, 201213 yr New to FSX. In FS9 we just had ground environment pro, which took care of textures for the entire world. Now there's GEX Europe, Africa, etc. Does this mean you have to purchase each one? Or could you install GEX Europe, and those textures would also appear say if you were flying over America or Asia? Thanks Dev Singh
August 3, 201213 yr No. They are all for specific areas which you can see on their coverage map. There is FSGlobal and WWW that covers the whole world, but they aren't very good from what I've seen.
August 3, 201213 yr It's best to buy all the GEX regions, they work together. It's well worth it if you're going to be doing long haul or flying round the world. GEX covers your ground textures. For Sky, Water, Clouds, etc (and runways) then you'll get those textures from your weather app (REX or Active Sky 2012). For roads, lights, and other overlays on the ground, you can get UTX to run on top of GEX. FS Global that was mentioned isn't a texture set - it's a mesh.

August 3, 201213 yr GEX hasn't released any form of Asia yet. -Damien Damien Furtman Hovering Hellion
August 4, 201213 yr ******* every single region? Thanks for your help guys. Every single.. You mean like 4?
August 4, 201213 yr FSGlobal is not ground textures though...... You're right. I was thinking of FSScene. But it looks like junk. I use WWW for places GEX isn't around for, which is mostly parts of Asia. GEX hasn't released any form of Asia yet. -Damien They do have parts of SE Asia covered now... but still not Thailand where I live now. Arg. They just touch the border with their latest release.
August 4, 201213 yr Commercial Member Yeah someone should cover Thailand, with default FSX textures it looks just horrible, more like some Southern European dry coast instead of place with year round green rainforests.
August 4, 201213 yr Do we know specifically which countries does their "Atlantic & Pacific Tropics" covers? Because the product description on their site is very vague on this.
August 5, 201213 yr I'm pretty sure it covers most of Oceania up to Malaysia and Indonesia. (Why they couldn't just extend the textures out to Vietnam, Thailand and Laos is beyond me). Travelling through them all in person, the landscaping is all very similar.
August 5, 201213 yr It doesn't cover Australia & New Zealand. But in saying "vague", I was referring to coverage of Central America, and mainland (not the Caribbean), from Mexico to Panama.
