FSX San Francisco issues?

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

I'm not really sure if this is the right place to be posting this question, but I haven't really found other topics on this weird problem. Basically, in the San Francisco area, FSX is replacing the water with a dessert like texture. I installed Aerosoft's US Cities X San Fransisco and Flightbeam's KSFO, and it was only then I realized that the water was all gone (Golden gate bridge and alcatraz over the dessert definitely isn't normal). I'm not sure if I had this problem before installing those two products as I had never previously visited that area, however as soon as I saw the problem I disabled both sceneries and restarted FSX. However the problem is still there.

There's definitely something wrong here, but I don't know what it is. Am I going to have to reinstall fsx? I've had so many problems with it recently it's really getting on my nerves. I've had to reinstall and repair fsx about 3 times within the last 2 weeks!!

Thanks!!

all the screenshots were taken after the scenery was disabled

Two things, do you have US Cities below KSFO airport in the scenery library ? Do you have F1 UTX installed ?

If you have UTX installed, you need to run the UTX USA set up tool, by running it and closing it to re sync the terrain.cfg.

I've seen this before, as Julian says, it's almost definitely a terrain.cfg issue. The two products that I know of that would cause this in the SFO Bay Area specifically are F1 UTX (would affect anywhere), and ORBX PNW ( will affect US west coast areas north of Paso Robles). As Julian says, try running the UTX setup tool. I got this error when already running UTX and installing the trial ORBX PNW. If you've installed the full version of PNW and the UatX setup tool doesn't do,it, you might have to go check the ORBX / FTX forums, I think it's in their FAQ.

Whatever, don't try to edit terrain.cfg, unless you really know what you are doing.

Thanks, Bruce.

Thanks for the answers. I've got utx, so thats probably where the issue lies. I'll try it tomorrow and see if it fixes it.

and the us cities x is above ksfo

Another great way to trouble shoot is Google. Just type in your issue and start searching through the links. Good luck and I hope you get it all worked out...!

Global warming! (I couldn't resist)

As others have said, terrain.cfg

That would make SFO be submerged in water, though :)
