  1. Thanks for the suggestions, found the culprit; there were 2 BGL files in the scenery/world/scenery folder (AFX_KEWR_ALT.bgl and AFX_KLGA_ALT.bgl) that were causing the scenery problems
  2. I'm having a very strange issue where my airports in New York aren't loading properly and there are problems with the scenery. I've removed Drzewiecki Design New York and the airports from the scenery library and reconfigured UTX, but there has been no change, and the default airports (of KLGA and KEWR) are still displaying incorrectly (as in the pictures below). Does anyone have any advice as to what this could be and how I can fix it? I would like to avoid reinstalling FSX at all costs... Thanks
  3. Thanks very much for the replies. Been busy with exams so hadn't had a chance to see this until now. Will be trying the suggestions out and seeing what works!
  4. Sorry, what do you mean by config? I've put the fsx.cfg in a spoiler in my original post.
  5. Apologies if this question has been asked a lot before, but I've searched everywhere and tried everything and I'm still getting blurry ground textures on FSX. I'm running an i5 4670k, 8GB RAM, GTX 760 and I have FSX installed on its own hard drive. I've tried quite a few fsx.cfg tweaks (set LOD RADIUS to 6.5, AffinityMask=14...), I'm using Nvidia Inspector and have tried changing settings there, but none of this seems to be having much of an effect. I have all sliders at max, frames locked at 30, and this doesn't seem to cause any problems as I get smooth performance, but the only problem is that ground textures look bad. I tried deleting my fsx.cfg to get rid of all previous tweaks and slowly started building them in again to see if that would help, but I'm still getting blurry textures! Does anyone have any advice, I'm running out of ideas?! Thanks fsx.CFG Image
  6. Thanks for the answers. I've got utx, so thats probably where the issue lies. I'll try it tomorrow and see if it fixes it. and the us cities x is above ksfo
  7. Hi guys, I'm not really sure if this is the right place to be posting this question, but I haven't really found other topics on this weird problem. Basically, in the San Francisco area, FSX is replacing the water with a dessert like texture. I installed Aerosoft's US Cities X San Fransisco and Flightbeam's KSFO, and it was only then I realized that the water was all gone (Golden gate bridge and alcatraz over the dessert definitely isn't normal). I'm not sure if I had this problem before installing those two products as I had never previously visited that area, however as soon as I saw the problem I disabled both sceneries and restarted FSX. However the problem is still there. There's definitely something wrong here, but I don't know what it is. Am I going to have to reinstall fsx? I've had so many problems with it recently it's really getting on my nerves. I've had to reinstall and repair fsx about 3 times within the last 2 weeks!! Thanks!! all the screenshots were taken after the scenery was disabled
  8. I had th exact same problem, except I would get fatal errors during the flight. I found out that it was the uiautomationcore.dll causing my problem. Google fsx uiautomationcore.dll fix. That might solve your problem
  9. Give us all the other factors". As said, some flights are as low as 14,000f
  10. Not that I know of. You'll probably just have to buy it again ;)
  11. I know that this is a frequently asked question, but after searching the internet for about an hour, I STILL can't find a way of getting the vc on the posky 777 in fsx to work! at the moment I've got as far as "black gauges" and "flickering gauges" but I really don't know how to get the vc working! Any help would be appreciated!
  12. I know this question has probably been asked a million times now, but from past experience, what do you think it better? I currently own REX 2.0 (I'm getting Essentials tomorrow when I have the time) and I'm also thinking of buying ActiveSky 2012. The problem I find with REX is that it takes absolutely ages to install textures, and this really gets on my nerves. I've heard that AS' weather and clouds is better/more realistic but I've also heard that REX has better textures. So what do people do, use both? Any past experience, I really want to hear some!!
  13. Forgive me if this seems like a bit of a stupid question. I've searched the internet and nowhere seems to be giving me a straight answer! Basically, I have 2 hard drives, 500GB and a 160GB. The 500gb is 7200rpm 6gb/s. The 160 is 5400rpm 3gb/s. My windows 7 64bit is installed on the 500. I want to install fsx on the smaller hard drive so that it doesn't interfere with any of the other files, but in order to do this, do I need to have windows installed on it? At the moment the smaller hard drive has no OS, so I'm wondering if FSX will still run. If not, can I just create a partition from the larger hard drive and use that? Thanks
  14. So Apple have just announced their New MacBook Pros with IvyBridge processors: http://www.thetechn.com/2012/06/11/apple-new-macbook-pros-with-retina-display/ How do you think they would handle FSX? I know they are expensive, but would you get good performance? I don't really know how good the GT 650M actually is, so I'm not really able to make a rough guess.
  15. I bought them online, they haven't arrived yet. So I can't
  16. So I just went and bought Aerosoft US Cities X Chicago, Las Vegas and San Francisco. To my horror, after investigating further, I've read on loads of other sites that they are all really bad on FPS, and combined with PMDG aircraft and other payware airports and traffic, you get awful frame rates. I currently can get in the mid-70s at Friday Harbor (no addons), and with addons in built up cities with the PMDG 737NGX I get in the 30/40s. I'm using a tweaked .cfg file at the moment, and that has really helped keep my frame rates up. Is there anyone who has / has used Aerosoft's US Cities X? I don't really want to go using that sort of scenery only to see massive drops in fps. I'd be running the scenery with others too -- UTX, GEX, REX. So would this make the frames drop even further? Thanks.
  17. Gigabyte P67X-UD3-B3. And yeah, I've considered the GTX 670, but it's quite expensive, and on top of that i'm not really a "hard-core simmer". so I wouldn't need such a powerful gpu anyway.
  18. Is there anyone else out there with a GTX 460? I've got the Zotac one running with 8gb ram and i5 2400. I get quite good performance (around 25 in dense areas). What sort of performance do you get? I'm upgrading to the i5 2500k soon and I'm getting a new graphics card (not sure which one yet) Is it even worth upgrading yet, or should I hold out a little longer? Thanks.
  19. I used to fly for http://flyuk.aero and before that http://bavirtual.co.uk. Due to reasons to do with little time, I ended up leaving ba then last year I left flyuk. My preferred of the two is definitely BA, however, it's now impossible for me to join back -- long waiting lists, etc etc. I want a VA you can apply for a get a place QUICKLY. What I love about both the VAs is that they're both really professional (check out their sites). I've seen a few vas online, but they aren't realistic enough. I want a va with its own acars system (for recording flights), that is professional. All these vas I've found so far are awful. if i can't find another va, then i'll probably apply to flyuk again. so any suggestions? Thanks
  20. Wow, 12 years old. Impressive!! I first started flying FSX about 4 years when I was 11, and I got straight into the A321, 737-800, 747-400 (defaults), but there was no way that I got anywhere near payware until about last year when I was 13! Very well done! shows that it's not just the adults who are capable of flying the big ones!
  21. What is the best 777 payware out there (200/300 series). I've used POSKY in the past, however, I don't like the fact that you don't get a VC, and I've heard it's difficult to get one (I tried, and failed)> Anyway, I'm looking for a really realistic 777 payware model with a good VC and FMC! (which I think POSKY doesn't offer.) Will PMDG be releasing a 777 soon? I've got their 737-8/900 NGX and 747-400X and 747-800 and they're amazing!! So that's what I'm looking for. Any stories of past experience would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
