No Communications, no support!

Featured Replies

Sirs,

I would like PMDG to be more accessible.

Although I am registered with the support desk I am unable to logon. I have made several attempts and have had my logon details emailed to me on two occassions today but I am STILL unable to logon. Furthermore, I am unable to let anybody within PMDG know that I am having such problems because emails sent to them just bounce back!

I have been to the forum (AVSIM) but most of the tags do not work, I was mainly interesting in the 'help' tag as I continue to have problems getting assistance or even information on my particular problems. The AVSIM search facility is of absolutley no use whatsoever. In this respect AVSIM have been very lazy and merely linked to the google seach engine. I could have done that myself, indeed I have done but I need PMDG specific assistance and I am again left frustrated and becoming incrreasingly more angry.

The problem that I have at the moment is that I have had to re-install FSX I have made most of the tweaks and adjustments to get FSX and my two PMDG aircraft up and running but alas! the Queen is not flying with the Jeppsen weather updates whereas before it was.

Unfortunately PMDG and or FSUIPC (paid for version) will not allow me to switch the weather engine off or even to change the weather settings! OK, this is possibly an MS and FSX issue but what is more importatant to me is that it is also a PMDG issue because the PMDG 747 FMC does not work as well as it should. I have been enroute between YBBN and KLAX for the past four hours and have NOT been able to get the FMC to control the speed or the altitude. I have VNAV and LNAV set correctly and their settings are confirmed in the FD but overtime the a/c still slows to the stall with autothrottle ON. The FMC would not take the a/c to cruise, I had to do it manually and when the weather changes I lose engine number three. This has ALWAYS happened during any moderate or severe weather change.

It has been said many times that the fault is with MS and FSX but I tend to disagree as my PMDG 737NGX does not suffer as much nor do my other payware aircraft.

I am disappointed that PMDG have not provided a fix for this, there has been plenty of time for such and it is not as if this problem is a rare or even recent one; it is NOT!

There is one thing that is very obvious - the real world aircraft does not fly like this!

I have been looking forward to PMDG completing the 777 but I am very tired of all this and wonder whether the new a/c will be prone to the same weather problems as the 747. But more importantly I wonder whether PMDG will,

a ) continue to isolate itself from its customers and

b ) whether it will allow any problems to continue to be unresolved.

I shall buy the 777 when it becomes available but if nothing is done to address the provision of support then the 777 will be my last PMDG product.

Regards

Mike

I am sorry you are having a bad experience at the moment but I find your problems a little odd and your descriptions of what you are trying to do even stranger.

Not sure what could be causing this but I have never had an issue logging into the support portal. You are trying to log into the portal right? With regard to this and the email I would be looking at my browser settings this surly is a problem at your end. You do know that the support portal uses completely different log in details and you must register there for new details? It sounds like you do.

I have been to the forum (AVSIM) but most of the tags do not work, I was mainly interesting in the 'help' tag as I continue to have problems getting assistance or even information on my particular problems

Again this must surly be something wrong at your end. To be honest I am not sure what it is you are trying to do with the help tag. That is for help relating to the avsim forums and not PMDG. Try the search forums function and search the PMDG forums about your problems.

Your doing it wrong mate. It clearly says that is a google search. You need to click on the gear logo thing next to it and it will bring up an advanced search screen where you can be specific about what you are looking for and search specific support forums.

What do you mean? Why would you be trying to use FSUIPC to switch of the weather engine? Do it in fsx. Unsless you are trying to use the wind smoothing and turbulence settings??? Please clarify. I gave up on the fsx weather engine a long time ago and got myself active sky and a registered FSUIPC. I did this initially because I found all complex planes prone to odd behaviour such as s turning and more. I hear what you are saying but it really is more of an fsx problem and as you know can be fixed.

I can't help but feel you are doing a few things wrong but I must admit that I do not really fully understand all that you are trying to say. I am pretty sure though that one of the PMDG team will see this post and start helping you with your issues or even some of the many helpful people who frequent the site.

Good luck and try to be clearer so people can help you.

Mike,

I agree with James on this one - the problems that your are attributing to the 747 must be a problem on your end somewhere. I could be wrong, but you may want to check your software installation :-)

I have never had this issue. It is true that the FSX weather system has a very unrealistic effect on the PMDG aircraft, but the conditions that you are ascribing to it, is very odd indeed.

For example, I used to have a problem with the aircraft not wanting to maintain pitch when I put it into cruise. I found it had something to do with the loading of the aircraft, so I didn't load as much cargo in with the PAX and that solved the issue. BUT, when I reinstalled FSX this problem simply went away.

And as James said, try be a little bit more specific so we can follow - a few screenshots may also be helpful :-)

Hope you get it sorted out soon!

Kind regards

You don't even need to do this.

Just click on the grey button that says 'google site search' and it expands into a list of locations you can search in.

Mike,

Saying you're getting "No communication and no support" is a bit much when I'm sitting here replying to your post less than 12 hours after you posted it in the middle of the night...

What exactly is happening when you try to log on to the support portal site? What you're describing is not something I've heard of before.

The weather issues with FSX are extremely well documented (especially when involving oceanic flight away from any actual weather stations) and they affect other addons too, not just ours. Most people use a combination of a weather addon like Active Sky 2012 and a registered version of FSUIPC to tame the problems inherent in the weather engine. You are not flying the real aircraft in the real atmosphere... That said I have once again never heard of losing engines when changing weather - I suspect you have some very strange problems specific to your FSX and/or Windows installation going on here.

Mike,

I apologize in advance for a slight rebuff here, but as someone who's had to work a help desk, I'm approaching this like any other help desk request:

Don't be part of the issue, be part of the solution.

There's no sense in dragging in accusatory language when you have problems with a product, service or otherwise. Calling people lazy doesn't really get them on your side to help address the issue, it puts them in a defensive mode to dismiss the request, or at least not be as helpful to it. In your case, it really only stood to show your misunderstanding. Note it says "Google Site Search." One of the reasons Google got so popular as a search engine is in the algorithms and search techniques they use to get the most accurate hits on the search terms. AVSIM has simply employed the use of said services to make sure you get the help you need more accurately.

Beyond that, I'll echo the sentiment of others here that there's likely issues on your end with the confirmation email going to the spam folder, or similar. I can log on just fine.

In any case, in the game of troubleshooting, it's better to assume it's a problem on your own end before firing off a furious rant accusing everyone else. Moreover, as I already mentioned, don't burn your bridges to the help source. I'm not saying you have to include rainbows and unicorns in your posts, but I wouldn't start accusing the helper of wrongdoing before even giving them a chance to respond.

Tis true, I forgot about that. So many ways to get it right so few to get it wrong.
