August 15, 201213 yr I did some testing and my findings are that you need to have the following things enabled: - draw hi-res planet textures from orbit - 3-D bump-maps - draw per pixel lighting HDR is not necessary!
August 15, 201213 yr I am not sure if this is an issue for just me or in general but as an example if I take of from ksea, I dont have to get high, even just +1000 and the mountains in the distance look like they are constantly recreating themselves. Big chunks dissapear and appear as if the landscape is recreating itself all the time. Is that usual?

August 15, 201213 yr Maybe your video card ? Msybe, I am running a 7970 right now and I had the same issue on the 6970 which I had in before. Both cards are ATI. Its the only graphical glitch I get, I am not running HDR. Thats why I ask. I would be curious Velin if you are using an ATI card as well. I would try to take a video and post it but I dont want to install quicktime on that pc.
August 15, 201213 yr A bit of googling and I found out the problem. I have not had volumetric fog turned on, this is what hides the mountains morphing in the distance and replaces them with the transparent mountains I have heard about.

Thank you! That did it! I'm honestly glad the problem WAS on my end and was fixable. I appreciate everyone's help who looked into this.
