August 16, 201213 yr Hi all! I own the redux lights package and have been a big fan of the ngx for many months now but without daring touching the aircraft config as I am too happy as it is. I do love the look the redux lights have on my other airplanes and I think the ngx's lighting could be improved. Has anybody tried it on? If yes, what entries did you make in the config file? And more importantly, do the taxi lights behave as normal? (i.e. Turn off when gear retracted, no phantom lights globes bobbing around the plane) and is it worth pursuing? I am very looking forward to any answers as I am deciding whether to try it on or not. Thanks in advance Matteo Capocefalo MED1473
August 17, 201213 yr The taxi lights will turn on/off with gear lowering and retraction as long as the taxi light switch on the upper panel is turned on. My setup isn't perfect, but it works for me and I get very little (if any) banding on the due to the landing light choices I use. I've had to tweak my nose gear taxi light down a little bit from these screenshots so it lines up right in front of the light. The settings below are what I use for the -600. It will give you an idea for a starting point. Steve [LIGHTS] //Types: 1=beacon, 2=strobe, 3=navigation, 4=cockpit, 5=landing, 6=taxi, 7=recognition, 8=wing, 9=logo, 10=cabin light.0 = 4, 32.390, 0.0, 5.500, fx_PMDG_NGX_vclight light.1 = 4, 30.890, 0.0, 4.500, fx_PMDG_NGX_vclight light.2 = 5, 4.50, -8.24, 0.32, fx_shockwave_landing_light_narrow_old.fx // Shockwave light light.3 = 5, 4.50, 8.16, 0.30, fx_shockwave_landing_light_narrow_old.fx // Shockwave light light.4 = 6, 27.60, 0.00, -6.00, fx_shockwave_landing_light_narrow_old.fx // Shockwave light light.5 = 5, 5.70, 3.65, -3.80, fx_shockwave_landing_light_short.fx // Shockwave light light.6 = 5, 5.70, -3.65, -3.80, fx_shockwave_landing_light_short.fx // Shockwave light Steve StubbsUSAF (retired)
August 17, 201213 yr Author Thanks for your replies! I've read somewher that the shockwave light can create some unwanted effects tho, like double lights or floating light on wingtips because they don't follow wingflex or something similar with the gear when changing weight of the aircraft. Has anybody noticed this? And Cheers Matteo Capocefalo MED1473
August 17, 201213 yr I've tried the shockwave landinglights on the NGX several times, today with Steve's settings, but they never show up; the NGX seems to ignore them completely. Shockwave beacons do show up, but are out of sync with the (hardcoded) ones of the model. From a previous thread about the subject I learned that I'm not the only one who is unable to get the Shockwave landinglights working on the NGX. Regarding wingtip lights: Yes, for any aircraft model with wingflex adding wingtip lights is pointless as they don't follow the movement of the wing. Regards René Bongers
August 17, 201213 yr I use them on all 4 models and have no issues at all. The lights I picked do not give me the banding on the side of the fuselage. I only use them for the landing and taxi lights. If they aren't showing up, then you don't have the individual lights in your "Effects" folder in FSX or in the aircraft.cfg fle correctly. That's where they load when you install them. If you position them properly, you should never get any "double" lights. It does take a little adjusting to get them in the exact positions needed, but once you do, they will work fine. Some of my screenshots have the taxi light a little high in position. I have corrected that and the config settings above should be accurate for a -600. I did post all 4 of my model configs in another related thread within the past month or so. Those settings have the taxi light a little too high. The taxi light height setting above (-6.00) seems to work fine for all versions. Steve Steve StubbsUSAF (retired)

Hello Steve, Believe me, I do have the individual lights in the effects folder and set them up in the a/c cfg file correctly. The only file I lost is the gauge file for controlling the nose gear light, to be placed in the panel.cfg (as a result of uninstalling FS9; forgot to save it elsewhere). For the normal landing lights however, that should not make a difference. A few days ago I did a forum search and found a thread dating back to autumn 2011, where several people mentioned the same issue. Apparently some are 'lucky' some are not, but as far as this little problem is concerned, I don't have a clue why. Regards Edit: It looks like the problem lies at my end, in that I've assumed that the FS9 files would also work in FSX . My apologies. (BTW this may have been the case for those with the same problem.) René Bongers

(BTW this may have been the case for those with the same problem.) Rene, I hope you get it squared away where it works for you. I'm trying to remember if I had to have the gauge file configured on my end for it to work in FSX. I let the the Shockwave light application install itself on the default FSX aircraft. And then edited the lines manually into the NGX based on a little trial and error for positioning as I've messed with lights over the years and understand those entries very well. At work, so I can't look at my specific setup. Good luck in figuring it out. While some folks don't like the fact that you can see the light beams in the daytime, I'm okay with it. August 18, 201213 yr Thanks for your encouragement, Steve. It works! Bought the package for FSX, fiddled a bit and this is the result (737-600). The a/c cfg file entry is somewhat different from yours, but I like it as it is now. Great screen shot! They look great. I use the narrow version lights with the "old" extenstion on the end as I've found them to cause less banding on the side of the fuselage. Of course some of that can be affected by individual systems and graphics settings. Again...great job! Steve StubbsUSAF (retired)
