Saving screenshots as jpg's

Featured Replies

If this isn't the right forum for this post, will some kind administrator please move it.

When I hit the 'V' key and save a picture, it always seems to save as a bitmap 'bmp' file. Since it appears that all of the shots in the screenshots forum are jpg's, is there a way I can tell FSX to save my pics in that format? If not, is it a correct assumption that I will have to convert all pics put in the screenshot forum as jpg's.

Thanks.

Yes, you will have to convert them. Or you could look for a screenshot program that can save the screenshots as jpg right away.

No, you can't get FSX to make screen shots in *.jpg format, but it's easy to convert them with Paint: just past the *.bmp into Paint, and click "Save as JPEG". Other than that, there's the possibility of using a screen capturing program, such as FRAPS (which is payare, though).

What OE-LAT said.

I will add that I often "save as TIFF" in Paint and then open the TIFFs in Photoshop. I can crop and adjust the image to my liking and then "save for web" as a 72 dpi medium quality jpg. That way you can post or email the jpg and save the Tiff as a high quality original. Be sure and rename the files as something you can recognize.
