August 18, 201213 yr I saw a site from OPEN VFR, that we can have better fsx scenery then the default with this open vfr. is there someone who already has this scenery and what is the difference with gex and utx form flight1 any info would be appreciated paula
August 18, 201213 yr It's some sort of lite version of UTX. This review explains it pretty well: http://www.mutleysha...nmto/tanmto.htm You can buy terrain (landclass and vector data (roads, waters) based on OpenStreetMap.,org) seperately from mesh and also objects. I would never spend money on this but I guess it could be usefull if they offer a region or country other addons don't cover. It seems cheap but in order to for instance cover the same amount of territory as UTX does, getting UTX will be a LOT cheaper in the end.
August 18, 201213 yr Guys, first I bought United Kingdom Objects, Terrain and Mesh from Open VFR today. The Mesh with Terrain create wonderful rendition of the ground over UK. Particularly I was surprised to find how wonderful it looked at night and at no FPS cost. The Objects addon was unbearable on my strong 4.8Ghz system (Word Not Allowed's setup) though. Anyhow I liked Open VFR terrain and mesh so much (particularly with the night lighting patterns) that I went on and bought LU, NL, FR, DE and BE mesh and terrain for my european flights. Here are a couple of night screenshots: I'm really very happy with it, thanks doeke and J van E for mentioning this site. I think I heard and saw some screens in the past, but I didn't think it was that good. Cheers, Dirk. PS: On my screen the lights are brighter but not that much like I saw in UTX screens or the default. I find it more realistic if they are kind of subtle. To see these 2 screens right try to stand up from the chair and look at them from above.
August 19, 201213 yr Author if you have time could you sent a daylight picture from the netherlands before and after? so i might be interested as well to cover all what open vfr has to offer but also I dont know the difference with GEX? paula
August 19, 201213 yr Hello, I've have purchased many European regions, but only the "terrain-version". Because UTX is a very old product you are more up to date with streets, water and landclass when using openVFR. For the 3D-lights UTX offers I'm now using ExperienceX NL, so I don't use UTX furthermore. Patric
August 19, 201213 yr but also I dont know the difference with GEX GEX gives you new groundtextures: openVFR doesn't. I'm now using ExperienceX NL Couldn't find anything about it with Google. What addon is that?
August 19, 201213 yr Couldn't find anything about it with Google. What addon is that? You can take a look at this: http://secure.simmarket.com/beetle-print-experience-x-(de_6497).phtml and http://forum.avsim.n...-light-for-fsx/ Patric
August 19, 201213 yr I have opnVFR terrain and objects for Germany (latest release) and I really like the product. Landclass is just suberb and it especially seems to render roads very well.
August 19, 201213 yr is there someone who knows the differences open vfr with gex? OpenVFR and GEX have nothing in common. OpenVFR is highly detailed landclass and GEX are textures. You can also get improved objects and mesh from openVFR.
August 19, 201213 yr Author so in fact I can put via open vfr the roads and the lakes and the hills and the shoreline at the right place and then afterwoods the gex over it. it that right? paula
August 19, 201213 yr so in fact I can put via open vfr the roads and the lakes and the hills and the shoreline at the right place and then afterwoods the gex over it. it that right? Correct! Patric
August 19, 201213 yr if you have time could you sent a daylight picture from the netherlands before and after? No pictures before though: Cheers, Dirk.
August 21, 201213 yr Very interested in this product. Can anyone with the UK scenery post some pics of the north east Kent area, particularly Herne Bay/Whitstable/Canterbury, and perhaps some of the Thanet area including Manston (EGMH)? Thanks. Nick
