Missing Trees

Featured Replies

OK guys I need some help with this one! I lost all my FS9 trees a couple of days ago and now just fleeting white squares appear intermittently for a second or two where the trees should be (I think). I have searched the Avsim forums for a solution and tried various suggestions including installing Gerrish Gray's Trees V3 and also reinstalling the trees texture files from FS9 disc 2, but all to no avail.

I first noticed this problem when I installed Latin VFR Bermuda although this may just be a coincidence and I thought it might have more to do with the Di Marco CYYZ freeware which I had installed the day before and which contained 2 tree bgl files (ag_tree_lib.BGL and Agen_XTrees_lib9_2.BGL) but uninstalling both CYYZ and Bermuda has made no difference.

Any help would be really appreciated.

Bill

As long as you have the 5 trees*.bmp in ...\FS9\Texture they should display.

Where is your "Autogen Density" slider at?

Thanks Joe. The bmp files are in texture and the autogen density, like all my sliders, is set to max. The mystery remains!

Kind regards,

Bill

I don't own the payware and can't find the freeware, so I can't look at them.

I would examine them to see if they have replaced any default files.

Do you have autogen buildings?

Joe

Had already installed the freeware CYYZ on to a separate drive and the only suspect files it loaded were the two I noted above. Will do the same with Latin VFR Bermuda today just to check. Autogen buildings are present. Incidentally FSX runs without any problems which suggests it is not a video card issue.

Get your tree textures back from the FS9 CD to make sure they were not replaced by an addon.

Or, better, use a good replacement addon like TreeGen and see what happens: http://library.avsim...=ftp&DLID=84502

Of course it makes sense if you mean all your autogen trees (I guess you do since you wrote 'all').

If it is just some trees at some addons, then it looks like you may be missing or have incorrectly placed the above mentioned GG trees used by some scenery developers.

Yes, restoring the tree textures from the FS9 CD did the trick.

Just to give some feedback in case anyone experiences a similar problem, I am still not absolutely what the culprit was. As I mentioned above, however, I noticed the problem after I had installed the freeware CYYZ Toronto scenery (by Dennis Di Marco) and Latin VFR Bermuda, within 24 hours of each other. Virtually all of my trees disappeared everywhere (in different parts of the world) except where they were specifically included within the boundaries of some addon airport sceneries and instead of the trees just multiple tiny white squares kept appearing for a second or two and then disappearing. Incidentally I also noticed that my frame rates had coincidentally risen to unprecedently high levels when this happened, I assume because FS9 was not searching for autogen trees any more! Of those two newly installed scenery areas, CYYZ did contain two 'tree' bgl files as mentioned earlier and I can only assume that these were in some way responsible. Very odd however that this should happen now as I have never had any similar occurrences before despite adding many hundreds of both freeware and payware scenery areas.

Many thanks to those who replied for their advice.

Bill
