Sure! Why not. As long as people aren't allowed to upload a huge picture that makes their short post look enormous, it's fine with me.

A resounding "no" !

 

It reduces the contrast and makes reading more difficult for my not so good eyesight (aging baby boomer here) when the post text overwrites the watermark. I already skip reading some posts for that reason. A compromise could be to restrict it to signatures though.

I will just skip over those posts with a watermark if they are difficult to read, Sometimes less is more. The removal of the massive signatures was a step in the right direction, but images behind text is even more annoying.
