How To: Orbx ObjectFlow without using Orbx Migrator Tool (1.3)

Featured Replies

WARNING: This is only for people who are installing Orbx scenery using the Estonia P3D Migrator and want functional ObjectFlow

Unless you install your Orbx scerery into the FSX location and use the Orbx Migrator 1.3 to link and insert P3D native DLLs you normally wouldn't have functional ObjectFlow items in your airports. As a lot more people are using the Estonia tool to install their scenery directly into Prepar3D this is ever more a problem.

Not anymore...

Needed:

A second PC

Orbx Migrator Tool 1.3

What to do:

Run the Orbx Migrator Tool 1.3 on a secondary computer without Prepar3D installed on it. (DO NOT RUN ON PRIMARY) Quickly browse to "Program Files (x86)\Orbx\Orbx\Scripts and wait for a bunch of directories to populate that are named after all the Orbx airports. QUICKLY make a copy of those directories because as soon as the Migrator is done copying and starts running the batch files and finds out you have no airports all those folders will be deleted.

Now that you have copies of those folders you can cherry pick out the P3D native ObjectFlow.DLLs and copy them over to your main PC with Prepar3D on it.. What I did was cherry pick all of them and move them into a /ObjectFlow/ Folder in the Root of my Prepar3D install.

As you can see I now have every P3D ObjectFlow DLL even though I only have 1 airport I need it for. B)

Once you cherry pick your DLLs now edit your DLL.XML and update the lines to point to your P3D native ObjectFlow DLLs

For example mine for 2WA1 looks like this.

<Launch.Addon>
<Name>Objectflow_2WA1.dll</Name>
<Disabled>False</Disabled>
<ManualLoad>False</ManualLoad>
<Path>C:\Program Files (x86)\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D\ObjectFlow\Objectflow_2WA1_P3D.dll</Path>
</Launch.Addon>

Load up Prepar3D, click Run Once for as many times as it appears and enjoy your objectflow.

The reason (until someone suggests a solution to run it on the main computer Prepar3D is installed on) you need to run this on a secondary PC should be clear.. It is going to find your Prepar3D install and start dumping files into the Orbx directory and completely corrupt and mess your current installation up.

As crazy as this solution is, thank you for your input. I am sure some will find this useful!

Basically what you did is took dlls from the migrator and put it into P3D - which is cool, but like with the migrator, you still have the run once nag screen.

Nice work, chief!!! Gonna give it a go ASAP

Very true but as soon as they update their DLLs (which should be soon) I'll re-run this process and cherry pick them again.. I don't mind the nag screen and I'm sure I can get around that too by editing (using Resource Hacker) a DLL to change the version number.. I just have no idea what file they are referencing to pick up a version from though.

Then I'll be all over some ORBX products!

:lol: Same here!

Thanks! This worked very well... I have S43 Harvey Field and the runway markings are part of ObjectFlow, so it looked quite bad without it. If only to get rid of the nag screen now.

There's got to be something better than this for a fix, right?

There is not but there WILL be just as soon as Orbx can get it working. It is called Dual Install Retrofit to all their products,

Cheers, Mac
