FSX SCENERY ERROR MESSAGE

Featured Replies

At the opening screen of FSX I get 2 error messages appear that says;

Scenery CFG error. Invalid remote scenery path in secenery area 0.70

Click OK to continue,

Same thing for area 115 ? How can I get rid of this ?

While I am here, another question, I am running VFR Gen X and VFR Airfields for the whole UK, all work fine and I only fly in the UK.

In the scenery Library, all my add on scenery is listed OK but below is a whole list of what I think is default scenery files all checked.

Should I un check these ? Is it possible to delete the default scenery in FSX or does add on stuff need it to work ?

Help appreciated.

There is nothing to be gained by messing with the default scenery.

The problems that could be caused by un-checking/removing the default scenery far outweigh any benefit you would receive.

As for the error messages, they are telling you there is an issue with your scenery.cfg.

That file's location is C:\Users\yourname\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX\scenery.cfg

Open it with Notepad and find the two areas in question.

Copy them and paste in your reply.

Not trying to wisecrack, but for FSX (different from FS9) the location of the scenery.cfg file is C:\ProgramData\\Microsoft\FSX\scenery.cfg. By the way, an excellent tool for managing the scenery cfg file and finding and repairing errors is SceneryConfigEditor v1.1.0 As far as I know it's in the Avsim library.

All correct, Rene.

The ScenereyConfigEditor is also downloadable from here:-

An interesting little download is the map used which identifies the areas covered in the \Scenery folder of FSX, and what the "0101" and "0306", etc., all mean:-

https://dl.dropbox.com/u/52676345/Scenery_Numbering%20Schema.xps

I use this to "Un-tick" the scenery areas I don't fly in within FSX; then they don't get loaded each time the sim starts. If I don't fly in Africa - why should I load Africa??!

That file's location is C:\Users\yourname\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX\scenery.cfg

... the location of the scenery.cfg file is C:\ProgramData\\Microsoft\FSX\scenery.cfg.

My bad, I gave the path for the FSX.cfg.

Things like this happen when I am multitasking.

Thanks for catching that.

@ Paul J: Thanks for the additional info. You're quite right. In FS9 I also had the 'unused' sceneries unchecked, but haven't done that in FSX yet. You have reminded me to do so.

@ Joe: You're welcome. Being retired I do not have to multitask anymore . Main thing is that the OP gets his problem solved.

Regards and have a nice weekend.
