Shaking joystick

Recommended Posts

When I start to taxi the 737NGX the joystick starts to shake a lot. The faster I taxi the harder it shakes. How can I solve this problem ?

Hi!

First thing first, you need to sign your posts with complete name

(see http://forum.avsim.net/topic/245586-you-must-sign-your-full-real-name-to-posts-to-use-this-forum-posts-without-names-will-be-deleted/)

Secondly, assuming you've got a force feedback joystick I think it is quite correct behaviour for it to shake during taxi and incresing the vibrations with speed. I don't have a FF joystick, is it not normal behaviour?

What he means is that the feedback for 737 taxi is much harder than the 747's or the MD-11's.

Could be realistic since the pilots are sitting right on the front gear and are much closer to the ground. But.. I'm not sure.

It's not that realistic to shake the controls while taxiing in an aircraft with powered flight controls. When I had a f/f stick I used to turn the effect off. Some people like the effect though.

A yoke should def not shake when the plane drives over bumps, but its possible that the sim for some reason wants to transfer g-forces to the joystick FFB for some weird reason. I've seen this in racing sims, wouldnt surprise me if it was included in flight sims as well

The forces can be adjusted in the controller settings and in FSX (depending on the controller) I also think that FSFORCE software could help you more as it is completely configurable.

About the bouce forces and other forces applied to the joy, it is a way to represent the vibrations that pilots feel. As a full motion system or a "bottom" feedback system is more expensive, I think that adding some vibrations to the stick will add more feeling than a spring loaded joy.

But all must be done with no too much vibrations, one thing is to feel some vibration, another one is to vibrate too violent so that it is also difficult to control the flight controls.

A force feedback device with FS force will add also trim effects that re-center the joy when trimming, however on liners like pmdg this feature is limited for pitch trim (fsforce trim disables FSX trim, in the NGX locks the stabilizer and will trim only with elevator) and must be disabled, but it is fully functional with other axis.

I also say check out FSFORCE. It offers a demo in the KSEA area to try before you buy.

I use it and really enjoy having it as it dose add to a FF joystick. I use it on my G940

It is a perfect software if used with light planes as you can use the full trim functionality and will work as the real plane.
