June 25, 200421 yr I have seen many Aerostars around the local airports, but I don't recall the anhedral of the wings being that pronounced. It makes the FS model look sort of odd. I'll have to pay more attention to it the next time that I see one. Tim13

Jim Goldman was able to see one close up and personal. So, the model is as close to real as possible. Based on JIm's observations of my plane. Hope you decide to get her. She's a beauty, and a blast to fly; both real and virtualEnjoy!Best,Dave
June 25, 200421 yr Well, my father's day gift this year (at my request...lol) was the FS addon of my choice. I had pretty much whittled it down to eeny-meeny between the Carenado V35, and the new USA Roads. Well, needless to say, this Aerostar popping up like this has thrown a huge monkey wrench into the whole decision making process. :-lol .Decisions, decisions, decisions.I wasn't criticizing the plane, as it looks great. It's just that sometimes, even if an object is spot on with regard to it's real life model, it looks "odd" when it's viewed in FS. I'm sure that the wing anhedral is correct for the model, it's just that it looks exagerated once it's in the FS environment. By all means, this is not a deal breaker, and unfortunately for me, has now made my upcoming purchase decision more difficult.Tim13
June 25, 200421 yr Hey Tim13. No problem. Your right, in that it does look a little funny. The Aersotar has a negative 2 degree dihedral. But, she rides good in turbulence. Very Stable. It doesn't yaw around like the Baron does. It's more like skipping over the waves on a lake in a boat.I can certainly say, you would definetely have a great time with her. But, then again I'm a little prejudicedBTW, If you look at the paint jobs available; the one that is N36420 tail number. Is actually the paintjob off my plane. Jim painted the textures after seeing my plane in Houston. Also, the interior, is taken from photos of my plane as well. Well, good luck on your descision Tim13. There are a lot of cool things available. But, if you do decide to get the Aerostar...Have a Blast!Best,Dave
June 25, 200421 yr Thanks. Also, let me say that I'm just a little green with envy that you own and fly one of the top 5 coolest piston aircraft ever produced. Fly that rocket safely.Tim13
June 25, 200421 yr There are tons of twin props around to mess with and I would HIGHLY (not stressed enough) recommend the Aeroworx Beech instead!Carmine http://ftp.avsim.com/dcforum/Images/wave.gif

June 25, 200421 yr Hey,Yeah I live in Nassau. The funny thing is I am moving too. I am moving to Ontario, Canada, in the GTA, next month. Nassau is great to visit on vacation, but cost of living is extremely high. The only advantage here is it is a tax free haven, in that you are not taxed on your income. What you make is yours. Although in some cases that depends. Healthcare is VERY expensive, for medical insurance for my wife and I, I am paying close to US$350 a month. The US dollar and the Bahamian dollar are on par. Most goods are dutiable. Cars for example are charged 52% when you import them. Food is expensive too. Electricity on average is two to three times as expensive as in the states. Gasoline is $3.60 a gallon. See my comment on the US dollar and the Bahamian dollar, LOL.The advantage here though is we are very close to FLORIDA, and that is how some persons buy, they will fly over buy a TV, a car, or something and bring it in.Are you planning to come down here to live? http://www.forefrontgrp.com/jayssigsmall.jpg"There is an art . . . to flying. June 26, 200421 yr "There are tons of twin props around to mess with and I would HIGHLY (not stressed enough) recommend the Aeroworx Beech instead!"It's actually pretty overwhelming--there's so many outstanding candidates for purchase. But remember that the Aerostar is a piston, so for someone who likes aircraft to fill a niche, it's possible that a tprop wouldn't fit their wishes.I've filled five niches with payware aircraft:Ultralight: Lago's SetPiston Singles: Dreamwings 177 and Carenado V35Piston Twin: Flight1's 421CTprop: Flight1's ConquestBizjets: Eaglesoft's '400a, Premier and Citation.I splurged on the bizjet side, and ignored the single tprop category, but I think if someone makes their payware purchases with these niche's in mind, then the new Aerostar looks like a pretty wise choice. If I could only make one purchase at this moment, I think the Aeroworx Beech is a leading contender... I remember early on when they started, I offered a suggestion, and they gave a very gracious reply...I am really proud of what these payware designers have accomplished--all of them and many more I haven't mentioned. FS2004 has already evolved into FS2005 with such work...-John
