not as good as FSGenesis but you save on diskspace and download time.

I looked at the possibility of the FSGenesis stuff but was turned off before I even saw anything. I couldn't even figure out how to make the stuff work. Supposedly their installers are only for FS2002 and you have to do some strange things I guess to transfer them to FS2004. Well, I don't even have FS2002 installed so I don't know if I could even use these. The other thing was that I couldn't see how to get the entire U.S. There wasn't just one area to get this stuff. Maybe I'm missing something I don't know.

The mesh from FSGenesis that I was looking at was the freeware stuff.

Does anyone have any feedback on the new mesh scenery done by Raimondo Taburet? The Usa 38.2 m terrain - wich also includes Alaska wich was designed from the 60 m usgs elevation models - is no more and no less than FSG in term of quality - as the mesh is designed exactly from the identical elevation models - no more no less - The only difference is the price: my is freeware and it will be the whole set freeware - at no price at all - at the same quality of FSG - taking in consideration that at present i'm design the scenery and the usgs is continuosly updating and improving the elevation models - i let you take the final though about that.not as good as FSGenesis but you save on diskspace and download time.not necessary true - as explained above - and it can be proved - you can download and test the mesh. With all respect - it puzzle me - now and than - that a bunch of simmers - using this forum - support payware - rather than freeware on some issues - indeed as the case of usa 38.2 m sets - where we can enjoy good quality terrain - free technical support at no cost whatsoever - and above all exactly the same quality as payware packages - + i have yet to see a Freeware Alaska designed from the 60 m usgs dem - . Anyway - good luck to all of you!raimondo

Are you releasing them as you finish them or is the whole set already completed? I only found a few files of yours for western USA and central USA.

I send files online - when i've a bunch done - basically in blocks - as i go by with compilation - and get at about 200 to 300 mb - i send online. That is exact - at the moment - is online - complete alaska - west coast - and western areas of of the central block.I try to finish the whole of it - by end of august - with a bit of luck.completely free.ray

I know I can trust the product, the support is there, and to me, it's payback time, as well as understanding that it's a lot of full time work or close too............... to produce & support these products.L.Adamson

Ray, I want to thank you for all of the hard work you are doingfor us flight simmers. And to produce it free, wow. Can't wait until it is complete. Thanks again!

Raimondo, is there any way that you can add a jpg file of the area covered in each file? Thank you.

Hi;I put a map online wich show you the whole coverage and how is splitted - at this address : http://www.fsrapid.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=40Regarding coverage for each single file - you can see it in the file name itself: for example: usa_38_n49w110_n47w107.bgl covers the area wich is included withing n49 w110 to n47 w107all the terrain withing those coordinates are covered by that file - and all files for this usa 38 are named based on the coordinates they cover with mesh.if more question let me know and i'm happy to help.raimondo

Hi Raimondo,How did you manage to make your files so much smaller than the FSGenesis model? Since you are using 30M NED dataset just like FSGenesis, I'm curious to know how you managed to make the BGL files smaller.John

Hi John; How did you manage to make your files so much smaller than the FSGenesis model? Since you are using 30M NED dataset just like FSGenesis, I'm curious to know how you managed to make the BGL files smaller.I think Justin covers wider areas on his files - but i can not be sure about that - I rather go the way to cut the scenery in more files - of smaller size - but perhaps having a higher number of files to covers the same area as Justin - I prefer this option - to produce more number of bgl file for the following reasons:Allow all simmers to easy download.able to replace a file - wich might be defective or buggy - or whatever resons for a file to be replaced - with as low possible disconfort and download times - .able to edit areas - and re-upload only the file wich was edited - in simple words - i always goes to way to keep files as flexible as possible - easy to manipulate - distribute - improved - etc etc - with low as possible delays - and not to go the way of big autoinstall sized files.I see mesh as a big puzzle - where you can play with bits and pieces - - where you have endless possibilities - and never think - a scenery is finished - - any scenery is never finished - you can keep add and add - improving and improving - start again if you like so - all your life - Like the paintings i do.AT the end of the whole project - you will see the size of the complete package - will be same as other usa 38.2 m terrain - or very close to them.rayhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/82058.jpg
