FS9 simply will not load up

Featured Replies

I did a google search and found a few threads on various forums, but nothing that seems to pertain to my problem specfically.

I usually do GA flying in FSX, but I decided today after many months to fire up FS9 again and do some heavy/IFR.

I put in the FS9 Disc 4, run the FS9.exe as admin, and the normal splash screen appears, but it just stays that way, and eventually I have to close it via Task Manager. Even right after running the exe, in the TM it says it's not responding, and it takes up very little resources. So obviously it just doesn't even load at all and just stays stuck at the splash screen, doing nothing. I renamed my cfg file so that it would generate a new one. Still no luck.

Any ideas? It has been probably at least six months since I've run fs9, and I don't recall ever facing an issue like this.

Thanks

I wonder whether this is a Windows registry issue? Often is the case where FSX and FS9 are cohabitating.

Flight1 has a free tool to fix registration issues and it is available for download from their website.

Good luck.

Thanks. I'll check that out. One other thing I just noticed: there are quite a few scratches on the CD. I'll try some other things but if the other suggestions don't work I might just order another copy.

I thought it was now Kosher to use the NO cd thingy.

If not then I promise to burn myself at the stake.

Alternatively although you say your CD is scratched it may just need a good clean.

Andy

PS

As the other poster said try the free registry tool thing as well (its a simple and quick procedure)
