September 15, 201213 yr Having trouble steering default Cessna 172 while taxiing using Saitek joystick. Am assuming steering is accomplished by twisting joystick as in FSX. Help and Thanks.
September 15, 201213 yr Can you give some more details on under what circumstances is it presenting more problems? Is it when taxiing under crosswind conditions? During takeoff? And yes, there's that irritating screech in X-Plane's wheels... when subject to sideforces :-/ Weathervaning effects in X-Plane are a lot more evident than in other simulators. Curiously I found MS FLIGHT approached the "sensibility" of X-Plane in terms of steering with a crosswind component, but was still easier to control under most circumstances. Like almost everything in X-Plane, there are fixes for that using Plane-Maker. My RL experience is limited in this particular subject - in gliders we mostly operate during takeoff on a single wheel, and the crosswind components are felt during a small portion of the takeoff run, being a lot more evident when we ( usually soon ) get airborne and have to follow the towplane while still on it's takeoff run... I've never taxied a glider :-( - Well, I do, on the last fligth of the day, up to sometimes parking it inside of the hangar ( shhhhh, don't tell my supervisor....) September 15, 201213 yr Did you check the Axis page in the Joystick and Equipment settings to make sure your twist axis was set to Yaw? Donald E. Donovan Flying is the 2nd greatest thrill known to man The 1st is landing.

September 16, 201213 yr Author Thanks for your help. The Yaw setting did it. The screech is annoying. Thanks for the Pland-Maker tip.
September 16, 201213 yr Thanks for your help. The Yaw setting did it. The screech is annoying. Thanks for the Pland-Maker tip. Go into the sound menu and you can adjust the volume to reduce screeching there, at least I think so.
