New FSX Build - Cleared for Takeoff?

Featured Replies

New build critique please.

First, a big thanks to Word Not Allowed!! Helped me tremendously with this project.

I plan to O/C in the 4.3-4.5 area. Also plan on Windows 7 on the SSD...I have probably gone overboard on my SDD selection. I also use FSGenesis Mesh, UTX, GTX, and the usual add-ons, Level-D, and PMDG. May add REX, not sure.

Comments appreciated both good and bad.

Thanks in Advance

Anyone? Just a quick look please...reality check. Budgeting under $1500USD.

I'd get a TX 750 89.99 with rebate and use the money saved for a GTX 660ti. Otherwise looks pretty good.

Thx Randy!

Where in TX are you? We have property south of Alpine...

+1

The 660Ti is significantly faster than the 560Ti in regards to FSX AA. I would highly recommend this...

Here's my feedback.

Don't get the GTX560ti, Get the new EVGA Superclock GTX660 (non ti).

It will cost you 5 bucks more but give you GTX580 performance.

I'd also swap the Z68 board for either the ASUS P8Z77-V ($5 more) or the ASRock Z77 Extreme4 ($40 less)

I'd also use the IvyBridge 3570K ($25 more)

and

8GB GEIL Evo Legara 2133 RAM ($6 more)

That's either $4 less or $41 more depending on what motherboard you go for.

The IvyBridge will overclock to the same performance level as the SandyBridge but at a slightly lower clockspeed but you'll get a better IMC and PCIe 3.0 + native USB 3.0 on the motherboard and you'll consume less power as well.
