September 19, 201213 yr Looking at a number of tutorials on Youtube, most of them say that the FMS in MD-11X comes preloaded with a number of flightplans. When I look at the Flightplans RTE files in PMDG, all I see are the 2 tutorial routes. Are there other flightplans in the software that can be loaded by airport code. In the SIDS files I saw all of SIDS routes, but supposedly I could plug in the from/to airport codes and the routes would pull up. That does not happen for me. Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
September 19, 201213 yr Hi, I think you are missunderstanding something here. Expect the two tutorial routes there aren't any fligplans saved in the FMC. You normaly enter the route manually with the F-PLN page. The tutorial shows you how to do that. If you want to make it easy you have to create a flightplan in the PMDG format put it in the right folder and then you can load it with the FMC. The airports codes in the SID/STARS are the departure/arrival routes for that airport, which contain the runway number and several waypoints for departure and arrival. The data which comes with the PMDG MD-11 are out of date today and you can update them if you want, for some money. John Rubens
September 19, 201213 yr Author Thanks. I completely misunderstood. I am using Vroute to create my flightplans. I just misunderstood what "preloaded" meant. Your help is truly appreciated. Mack
September 19, 201213 yr Author John, Can you tell me where I can purchase the updated data for the MD-11? Thanks again.
September 19, 201213 yr Can you tell me where I can purchase the updated data for the MD-11? Thanks again. The updated data for all PMDG A/C is the same and can be found at http://www.navigraph.com/www/myaccount.asp?m=-100. The preloaded flight plans came with the installation of the PMDG 747-400X not the MD-11. Michael Cubine Michael Cubine
September 19, 201213 yr Hi Mack, Can you tell me where I can purchase the updated data for the MD-11? Thanks again. Please be aware, this tool doesn't bring any new flightplans to the PMDG MD-11. In the real world navaids like VORs, NDBs and also waypoints change. Approaches and departures do the same. So in the real world there is a new update for the navigation database available every month. This updates are called cycles. If you want to fly online with IVAO or VATSIM it is pretty important that you have an actuall cycle, however if you don't fly online and if you can live with the fact that the approaches are maybe a little bit diffrent than on the charts, you don't have to buy a new cycle. To get flight plans I normally use this (not as good as the next one, however it will always find a route) or this (better, however not for every route available) free webpages. I usually print the route and then enter it manually into the FMC, however if you really want to load it you can use this free tool. Basically you get a route with one of the first links and than you can save it as a PMDG-FMC-readable file with the last link. Then you place the flight in the right folder and then you can load it with the FMC. If you want to know how much fuel you need I can only make a little advertisment for my project, which can be found here. It is free ofcourse, and should give you a (hopfully) accurate number how much fuel you need. I hope I was able to help you a little bit. If you have any other question go ahead  @Micahel Cubine the PMDG MD-11 comes with two flightpans for the MD-11 tutorials, which are: EGGLLSZH001.rte and RKSIRCTP001.rte  John Rubens

September 20, 201213 yr Hi Michael, What's my name doing in your post? Was any of your post intended for me? Yeah, the part after your name was for you. I was replying to this: The preloaded flight plans came with the installation of the PMDG 747-400X not the MD-11. The MD-11 also brings two flight plans. Best regards, Jonathan John Rubens

September 22, 201213 yr My apologies to everyone. I donwloaded the latest routes from navigraph, and now I have them all. Sorry,. and I appreciate all of the helpful responses. It's OK. The Navigraph download still doesn't include *routes* though, only navaid information. If you want routes you can check the links already posted here or other ones like Simroutes.com
