September 24, 201213 yr Hey guys, hopefully by the time you read this post I'll have figured out the issue myself. I've spent two days trying to get the base game SDK running and have failed. I've followed the instructions to the letter, but can't get simconnect to come up and I can't get it loaded up. I can't find the simconnect.ini and I can't figure out how I'm managing to not get the object placement tool for the mission creation kit to show in fsx. If anyone can help me, I'd appreciate it. See, I have a copy of the Air Force One addon and want to create a few missions with it, one heading into area 51. And I can't afford the $30 for the Instant Mission Creator tool at this point. Thanks again. oh, and one other thing, is it possible to find a download for the sdk? or just the .ini file?
September 24, 201213 yr Looks like you're having a lot of fun! Glad to see you're trying to use the SDK. There's a SP1a update at - http://forum.avsim.net/topic/386310-problems-with-base-pack-sdk/. There is no simconnect.ini. Best regards, Jim Forgot to add there is a Simconnect Forum here on AVSIM and a Missions Forum for building missions with the SDK, etc. You might find better help there! September 24, 201213 yr I can't find the simconnect.ini There should be a sample simconnect.ini in the Core Utility Kit\Simconnect SDK\config if thats what you are referring to.
September 25, 201213 yr Author I didn't see a simconnect.ini in the directory you're referring to. Besides, I haven't really gotten through all the stock missions yet. Though I have to say, I may skip the helicopter ones. I'm no great shakes flying a helo. When i do, I'm thinking about using the instant mission creator for FSX. I saw a tutorial on Youtube and it looks pretty easy and lets you auto generate voice dialogue. Any thoughts?
September 25, 201213 yr I'm thinking about using the instant mission creator for FSX. The MS FSX Missions Forum here at AVSIM might be the best place to check out and conduct your research and discuss mission building. September 25, 201213 yr Here is the content of the Simconnect.ini. Copy and paste using notepad. Save as Simconnect.ini [simConnect] level=verbose console=1 ;RedirectStdOutToConsole=1 ;OutputDebugString=1 ;file=c:\simconnect%03u.log ;file_next_index=0 ;file_max_index=9

September 25, 201213 yr The SDK is not available in FSX Standard, only in FSX Deluxe or Gold. FSX Standard users should add FSX Acceleration. Man you sure dont want to assume anything around here. Having the SDK package installed would be a good first step. I kinda assumed he had it installed since he's using the SDK Mission Creation Kit... I assume again.
September 25, 201213 yr The SDK is not available in FSX Standard, only in FSX Deluxe or Gold. FSX Standard users should add FSX Acceleration. Adding Acceleration to the Basic version of FSX does not yield the SDKs. FSXA only has updates to the RTM SDK found on the Deluxe version of FSX. Microsoft had, at one point, said that adding FSXA to the Basic version would give a working SDK. They were wrong...
September 25, 201213 yr Author sorry for the mix up. When I mentioned "base pack" I was referring to FSX Deluxe base pack. I should have mentioned that in the OP.
September 26, 201213 yr It is required that the level of SDK match the level of the game. If you have updated the game at all, you must bring the SDKs up to match. SP2 for the game? The SDKs must be installed up to SP2. Installed Acceleration? The SDK updates (inside a separate folder on the FSXA disk) must be applied.
September 26, 201213 yr Author Thanks for that, however, I got all that from the tutorial and I hadn't been able to find the SDK for the SP1 and so used just the base Deluxe version. It still didn't show up and I couldn't get simconnect to work, either. Matter of fact, I had to download a "patch" in order to run the game after I reinstalled it because it set the game to ask for my activation code and I had lost the Code. So I'm trying not to get too fancy here, if you know what I mean. Problem is, I couldn't get the Simconnect.ini. It's supposed to be in the My Documents folder, but all that was there was the Logbook.bin. If you could point me in the right direction?
September 26, 201213 yr It's supposed to be in the My Documents folder, but all that was there was the Logbook.bin. You have to install it or manually put it there. It's only used for trouble shooting and debugging. Console=1 enables 0 disables.
