re-install fsx and everything else.... again....

Featured Replies

for the 3rd time this month i have to reinstall fsx and ALL my addons, because I added some freeware emb rex textures to my texture folder.

And now my fsx doesn't load a flight without crashing... Im about ready to just start using default fsx cause its getting really frustrating.

Did you back up your texture folder before installing ANY addon? If that is the case. Ive installed all those REX addons and never had a problem. The only time I have had to install FSX is when building a new computer..

Nope I didnt backup my textures, I figured it was REX and assumed it wouldnt completely destroy my fsx...

REX offers the option to backup textures before performing a texture replacement, I believe. Next time just do that when you load REX and you'll be fine even if something does go wrong.

It was REX freeware that I found on their site. It says "install at your own risk".

But then I just realized that REX PAYWARE.... backed up my textures when I installed that.

...where exactly would I find those backed up textures?

REX has not messed up my FSX install, but other addons have.

But in any case I go further than Rendi, I have a complete FSX folders CLEAN backup on drive Z:\

Backup contains Full D:\FSX

And FSX folders in:

C:\Program Data

C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Microsoft\

C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\

I'm not at the FSX PC now, but almost sure the backups are under the REX Essentials folder.

Ramón.
Time, is the one thing no one can buy.

REX asks you where you would like to backup your textures, but in my experience there will be a folder somewhere on your hard drive called "backup".

You could always open the search box and type in "backup" (without the quotes) and see what comes up ;)

REX has a "restore" button on the Config page! I did that lol
