How do you delete a saved panel state?

Featured Replies

I've overused the save panel state feature and would like to clear some of the saves out so the FMC is not so cluttered. Unfortunately, the only information in the NGX Introduction manual is about saving and loading panel states. I even searched the folders hoping to manually remove the files, but no joy there either.

You will be prompted for a name for the panel state, and the FMS will

then create the necessary files in your <FSX ROOT>/PMDG/PMDG

737NGX/PANELSTATE folder.

Thank you. I was searching for the keyword "delete" and was getting nowhere. Seems, maybe the FMC should of had a delete function also.

Try deleting a panel state with it.

The DEL Key has been faithfully recreated in the image & actions of the real DEL Key on the real CDU keypad inside the real flight deck.

Unfortunately Mr/Mrs Boeing was/is unable to provide saved panel state files in real life...its up to someone on the flightdeck to set up the panel...

I like the NGX. I just find it odd that PMDG found it beneficial to add an external function to the FMC/CDU for loading/saving panel states but not to delete any that have been saved.

Edit> I bet Mr/Mrs Boeing didn't add to the function of the Exec button either, which you have to use to load/save panel states from PMDG's version of it.

Michael,

It's quite simple. Browse to ".\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\PMDG\PMDG 737 NGX\PanelState" and delete the file you want to get rid of. There are three belonging together, *.fmc, *.sav and *.rte.

Such oversights sometimes happen when new things are introduced. I am fairly confident they will include this function in future releases, as long as they notice this thread.

Axel, I'm quite familiar with using Explorer to find/delete files. I'm commenting here in the support forum for PMDG to take notice and maybe fix these items at some later time hopefully. After all, these same small bugs may be carried over into the 777 project.

I thought so, no harm ment. However, I never felt the need to have it done within the application. I'm using the Autosave function of FSUIPC which produces quite a lot of of files I likely will never use again. To get rid of them I even use a batch file for deleting.
