September 30, 201213 yr Has anyone got a copy of the latest Mega Airport Frankfurt with the new runway? I bought and downloaded it today and I'm incredibly disappointed and was wondering if it hadn't installed correctly? The update with the new runway does add it, but the textures for the taxiways are not in keeping with the rest of the scenery, they are default textures (that would appear if you added a taxiway/runway in the AFCAD), which quite frankly I couldve done myself to my older version without spending 24 euros. Does anyone have any screenshots with the new runway so I can compare? If it is installed correctly and the default textures are whats meant to be showing I will be asking for a refund, I wouldve sooner stuck with my older version that I had previously bought!
September 30, 201213 yr I recall Aerosoft explaining this was a 'quick and dirty' temporary solution while the total remake of EDDF was planned. Release of the latter is expected in 2013. It will be interesting to see how Aerosoft treats those upgrading.
October 1, 201213 yr The added runway to Aerosoft's EDDF is obviously done with AFCAD and is pretty awful. I decided to get rid of it because it really did look totally out of place and spoiled an otherwise outstanding addon. But I am sure of one thing - when Aerosoft does release the updated version of EDDF it will be completely reworked, will be "state of the art" and will be a free upgrade to existing owners. That is one of the many things I admire about Aerosoft - they really take care of their customers and have already done this with a number of their German Airports series.....
October 1, 201213 yr Thanks for the HU. Was on the verge of installing the update v202 myself. Will give it a miss. Arnie....if it ain't broke, don't fix it...
October 1, 201213 yr Author Well I'm very disappointed that I've paid 24euros for something I couldve done myself using AFCAD, as if I havent spent enough with aerosoft already buying sceneries!
October 1, 201213 yr I don't think you've wasted your money. The original download is excellent - it's just a little out of date without the new runway. Just don't install the update and enjoy the scenery is it is. When Aerosoft release the update, I am very confident it will be provided free of charge, as that has been their policy in the past.

Some updates are free, like the Hamburg & Berlin ones recently. However remakes are sometime not, though are discounted for existing owners. EDDF is a good example of this. I purchased the original for FS9 quite some time ago. Then there was a complete remake released which was not free of charge, although I did get a discount at the time of purchase/upgrade. I'd be very surprised if a completely new EDDF were free to existing owners. But wouldn't be surprised to see it discounted. It may even be a matter of the actual developer deciding what they want to do, which is totally fair as they are the ones investing the time and energy. But so far my experience with Aerosoft has been that they err on the side of being very generous and fair...

Oh indeed, and I posted specifically on their forums to thank them for the Berlin & Hamburg free updates. But my last EDDF upgrade was a paid/discounted one. You know what it can be like here, they'll be hell to pay, and it'll all be your fault, if a new EDDF requires payment  Gavin Barbara Over 10 years here and AVSIM is still my favourite FS site :-)

For a while, all the trolls seemed to have migrated to the Flight forum but now that's no longer an attractive place for those who like to spread a little "hell" around, I better start to watch my step!
