Thanks for your replies. When I was a young boy my dad bought me a radio when we went to Biggin Hill air show, it just had a dial to move to listen to radios. But if its that illegal perhaps I'd best avoid it. I knew it was illegal to broadcast it but I didn't realise it was illegal to listen!

If I wanted to be able to listen to the LHR tower (I live in the London area), where/what is the best and cheapest way to listen to it using a tracker radio? Where is a good place to purchase one? Any advice greatly appreciated.

I suspect it is a WoAI 737-300, I've had it occurring at a few airports and its usually where one of those has been present. Just need to figure out how to check it with FSM as it just says 'not implemented yet' when I click on the textures tab :-/

I have had this problem plaguing me in FS9 for as long as I can remember. Every now and then it will stop loading textures and about 20secs after it will say that its encountered an error and needs to close. I have been told (many moons ago) that it is due to a corrupt texture, which I do believe to be true, it's on an aircraft (I think an AIA 737-300 or 737-500), and when FS tries to load the texture on it (or lightmap) it causes an error and FS9 stops loading all textures (though continues simulating until it gives me the error message). My question is- Is there a way of finding out which texture is corrupt that's causing the error? Is there a programme that will identify a problem like this? Hope someone can shed some light on it, thanks!

Actually I have found the image that's causing the main issue, it lies within os777_VC_10_t which is saved in DXT1 format. Is there a way of removing those particular windows that are a part of that file to mean that it doesnt attempt to load them into fs at all?

I'm not sure I understand? The image I've posted is the same aircraft, same situation about 4 seconds apart, once the strange texture covering the window has loaded properly/or turned transparent or something to that effect? If I download an entirely new livery will it not just mean that I'll have to convert my textures to DXT3 again to make them more resource-friendly on my system? Thanks for the help

Hello all, I have an issue with textures in the VC of the Posky/skyspirit 777 (all variants). Textures take a few seconds to load on my system when its being really challenged in FS9, and theres a texture that seems to 'overlay' the windows in VC that look like clouds until they load properly and then disappear/become transparent. That split second of loading blocks my view so I cannot see out of the aircraft. On my -200LR variant I found the culprit file :OS772V2_Glass_T, so deleted it and solved the problem (I also converted all 32-bit textures to DXT3 and they all now load a lot quicker), however on my -300er and -200er variants I cannot find the culprit texture. Any ideas as to what texture its in (i've opened textures using DXTBmp to try and spot it but cannot find it). Any advice/tips would be very much appreciated. Thanks for your advice guys. I've got almost 3 weeks off work now so perhaps I will treat myself to an early christmas present and master it. Like you all say perhaps itll ease me into the next level of simulation such as PMDG etc...

And if I've had no experience at all of dealing with FMC's in the past, should I avoid this package at all costs or does it give a tutorial in idiot-speak to get you up to speed with it?

I feel its time I invested in some new products for my FS9 (subject to Christmas presents for people being sourced cheaply!). I am interested in buying the new Dubai scenery from Flytampa as it looks incredible, but also fancied a new aircraft. The most complex aircraft I have used in flight sim is the Project Airbus A380 or CLS A330/340! I once had a go on my friends PMDG 747 and couldnt even start the engines without a youtube tutorial, when I did I had all sorts of alarms going off when I took off! With this in mind, how complex is the Qualitywings 757? Does one need a degree in FMC's to use it or is it quite straightforward once you get the hang of it, I'd hate to pay for something that required a full-time job to figure out!

Is there a line in the aircraft.cfg file that can be changed to make the thrust increase more quickly? I usually fly the overland a320 family, and have recently downloaded the Project Airbus A320, I find that when you spool up on the Project Airbus the rate that the thrust increases by is not as quick as the overland model, so you can't spool up to let the engine settle then give it a bit more thrust after without it taking a while to respond. What (if anything) can i change to see this happen more like the overland model?

I have this issue with the airport, Its visually fantastic (apart from some shimmering of ground textures), but looking towards the city the frames drop considerably. For this reason I have not re-installed it on my latest rebuild of FS9 (didnt fly there enough to really need it taking up the space).

After disabling all non-default scenery layers I still got the message. Strangely, the message has changed to something different now after a rebuild of my FS9.cfg telling me on startup that my computer is out of memory, which I know for a fact is absolutely not true. I believe I've had this issue before a long time ago and it required a complete re-installation taking days and days. I remember reading somewhere that the 'Out of memory' message was a random one selected by windows or FS9 because it didnt have a related error message to the actual issue. Its def not memory related, I have plenty of RAM, hard disk space and my page file is more than adequate so I'm not going to be changing anything relating to that. Hmmm the mystery continues.... Ok, I tried renaming my FS9.cfg, no luck after that Using Event viewer it tells me that there was an error, and when i click on it this is what it tells me: "The description for Event ID ( 0 ) in Source ( ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and Support for details. The following information is part of the event: 7." I tried changing all addon scenery entries in scenery.cfg Active=True to =False so that it was only reading Active=True for default sceneries, and again when opening FS9 I got the same message. Very perplexed? Can't thank you guys enough for trying to help so far, I really appreciate it. Keep those ideas coming......

A little more info for you I have sorted my scenery.cfg file using a utility to tidy it up, I tried deleting the entries for RJTT and all related areas, as well as deleting the files associated with them, this made no difference either (so i restored them to the FS folders but not back into scenery.cfg) Unfortunately with this aspect of FS9 I'm pretty clueless....

Many thanks for you help so far guys. I have downloaded the Procmon programme, and when filtering it doesn't show anything to have 'FAIL'ed. It does show quite a few that have a result of 'NAME NOT FOUND' (9748 of them to be exact, is this normal?!). You're absolutely right, I hadnt thought about it, but yes, if I hadnt added the area to my scenery.cfg beforehand then it wouldnt have updated the scenery files on loading if I had just copied and pasted from the zip files to the sim's folders. Before all of this I had deleted an AFCAD file from a folder because it was doubling up on another afcad (RJTT Haneda) and so kept reverting to one that I didnt want, I think i had to rename it or something- really ought to keep track of what I do in FS9! I am running XP (old I know). Files put into FS folders were a folder 'ZXLY' containing 'Scenery' and 'Texture' folders, plus the contents of the 'Effects' folder that came with the download pasted into the main FS9 'Effects' folder (as well as a file into the sub-folder called 'texture' in the FS9 'effects' folder). Apologies if this is an incredibly convoluted message, I'm confusing myself now!

Arrrrghhh, dont like things like this because it generally involves me having to re-install my entire FS (days of work despite backing up stuff!) I recently attempted to install the new Xi'an scenery available on avsim. When I next opened FS9 after pasting it into my addon scenery folders and effects folders etc, it updated scenery files as usual when you install new sceneries, but then I got this message: Error - FS9 Failed to read from file It then crashed to desktop. Any subsequent attempts to open flight sim have resulted in the same error message and CTD. I have deleted all of the files added with the Xi'an Scenery (bearing in mind its not even entered into my Scenery.cfg yet as it crashed before i could manually enter it), but still I'm getting the same results. Any ideas on what is the culprit here and how I can figure out which file is causing the problem? Hope you can help Many thanks

Well then why are people still producing repaints for it? is any kind enough to be able to send me a copy of the aircraft to my email? Its frustrating seeing all of these lovely repaints when you cant use them for anything!

Hello there, I'm also having the same issue, why is it so hard to locate this model yet there seems to be repaints for it springing up all over the place? Would someone please kindly send me the base model so I can update my Japanese traffic?

Well I'm very disappointed that I've paid 24euros for something I couldve done myself using AFCAD, as if I havent spent enough with aerosoft already buying sceneries!
