October 5, 201213 yr Hello, I just finished my first repaint on this aircraft for my virtual airline. The livery turned out okay, but i have a very strange problem that i cannot find the solution of. So i hope there is someone here that can help me. As you can see the windows are not good, the lower part are the windows as shown in Photoshop and the upper part are from the model i think, the clear ones. Also another problem as shown on the picture below, the belly is very strange, the are clear holes in it below the wing. I realy hope that someone knows the problem. ans is willing to help me. Kindly regards, Rick Winkelman CEO Fly Europe VA I just found out that i have a row with clear windows on my belly, so i dont know anymore what it could be, also tried it with deleting the night texture files.
October 5, 201213 yr Rick, it's just a rough guess since the images are rather small, but have you altered the alpha channel of the different fuselage parts in any way - mabye accidently? Did you use the fuselage parts of the paintkit at all? Dose the livery look normal in the master paintkit file and after pasting it to the fuselage parts? In which format (DXT5) did you save the files and which software did you use (Imagetool, DXTBMP)? Maybe you can post a few more images especially screenshots out of your painting software and the alpha channel! This will probably help hunting down the error. Christian Mohr
October 5, 201213 yr Author Christian, Thank you for your reply, the fuse master looked normal, also the different fuse parts. I flipped the alpha (night) textures vertical. And i safed all the files with dxtbmp as dds dxt5. I shall post more specific pictures. Rick
October 5, 201213 yr Author Here are two more pictures wich shows the problem better I really hope it can be fixed somehow. Rick
October 5, 201213 yr Rick, I guess I've found the error. Did you flip/mirror the livery vertically before compiling it? You probably forgot to flip the alpha channel too which sort of lies in the background of the livery. I have attached an image taken in Photoshop which shows the result when the alpha channel is flipped vertically and the paint is not (in this example fuselage part 1): The red colored areas show the information contained in the alpha channel - which is greyscaled by the way - and it shows the same result which you get in the simulator later. Windows on the belly and above the window row. The solution is too flip the alpha channel vertical too or use another program - i.e. the latest version of imagetool - in order to convert the files to the DDS format. That way you don't have to flip the livery vertical. If you are using the NVidia DDS plug-in for Photoshop you can check the option 'Save Flipped Vertical' this should work too. The two later described methods don't require any flipping of textures or channels at all. Maybe someone can provide you with more information regarding DXTBMP, I don't have any experience using that one but I guess it can be handled too. If the term alpha channel is new too you, I'd search around the forums and the help documents of Photoshop. It sounds a bit difficult at the first place but it's quite easy to get through it. Else feel free to post another message here or in the paint forum. Best regards, Christian Mohr
October 5, 201213 yr Author Christian, Indeed i did not flipped the alphas, I found now how to flip them also. I try this and let you know.
October 5, 201213 yr Author Christian, You are my hero!!!! It worked. Thank you very much!! Kindly regards, Rick Winkelman
October 5, 201213 yr :yahoo: Rick, good to hear that it worked out for you now. Enjoy your livery for the NGX . Best regards, Christian Mohr
October 6, 201213 yr I believe that you overlooked that the text on the tail is reversed when looking at the port-side of the aircraft. I'm not sure if this is an illusion I'm seeing or if it is really like that. -JeremyChesney Regards, Jeremy Chesney
October 6, 201213 yr Yep but I guess that will be easily corrected by flipping the text so OP is not bothered by that. Regarding the window problem, how I do it: When flipping the image for DDS export, make sure you do it like this (this is in sectored fuselage files 1-3) -Save your PSDs. -Right click a layer in layer list window, click flatten image -use menu Image / Rotate Canvas / Flip Canvas Vertical. This will flip all channels, Alpha including -Now save as DDS. --Peter Fabian
