So I uninstalled OpusFSX demo doing the normal uninstall procedures in Windows. But now I have OpusFSX Aircraft External View, and Aircraft Internal View, when I access the menu with right click mouse. How do I remove this!

 

It really ####### me off when we download 3rd party programs and the uninstall does NOT uninstall...What is that???

This is really one POS program...so the deal is that OpusFSX edits ALL of your aircraft.cfg files and add a camera definition. So now I have to manually delete this from every aircraft!!! You got be kidding me??? Hey developers!!! Shouldn't that be part of the uninstall???

Is it not like EZDOC in that before you uninstall it you run a built in utility really quick to take out all the edits of the configs, then run the uninstall program for the main program itself?

Yeah well exactly. Their is no uninstall procedures in the manuals and no indication or method of batch removing this cfg line. Not cool, especially when you have hundreds of planes.

Use something like TextCrawler (freeware) to search for text in multiple files and replace / delete it.

Solryaz, I totally agree! I think OPUS should write a batch file that removes the crap they left in all the aircraft files.

I feel your pain, buddy. The amount of crap that remains in the %temp% folder after installing an application is just phenomenal. Let alone after uninstalling. Really unacceptable.

And a well deserved break if I may say so. They have both really been ontop of things.

 

I'm not so much complaining about OpusFSX but more about windows (un)installs in general.

We have just posted a new update addressing this problem. As per usual if you find a problem with OpusFSX just notify us (preferable politely) and we will provide a solution ASAP. If anyone has constructive suggestions for enhancements then we would be pleased to hear from you.

I'm sorry if I came off a little harsh the other night. I had no issue with the program in particular, except throwing my TrackIR sensitivity settings way off, so I uninstalled. I simply did not have the patience in recalibrating my settings in TrackIR, which took me much trial and error to get right in the first place.

 

Please, when developing software, it is imperative to have a clear uninstall procedure. It's not the first time I install something within FSX which then creates havoc. This has made me, generally, reluctant to install certain programs. Sometimes when you have everything setup exactly the way you want it, any unforseen alterations, can mean hours of troubleshooting....bleh...

No worries, the TrackIR interface is a prototype which we are tuning in cooperation with our user feedback, we like to develop this way so we end up with the best possible software.

 

We have to work with the raw TrackIR data so have no control over the settings you previously made in the TrackIR package.

 

I think you will find our uninstall procedure is comprehensive now. Hope you will have the patience to give it another try :Peace:
