October 7, 201213 yr Hallo I have had always Problems with vsync and tearing. Perhaps you remember, I have had posted a solution here with the D3DOverrider. I have found an other solution that works on my system. It is so simple, that I first dont believe it. Just add in the fsx.cfg: [Main] DisablePreload=1 than the tearing was gone on my system. give it a try, and please tell me whether it woks on your system too. many greetings from Hamburg, Germany Leonhardt
October 7, 201213 yr Amazing! I remember the posts. Are you using AMD or Nvidia, Leonhardt? I already have this line in my config, (and have Nvidia) but have never had an issue with Vsync. Maybe....? i7 [email protected] | 32GB RAM | EVGA RTX 3080Ti | Maximus Hero VII | 512GB 860 Pro | 512GB 850 Pro | 256GB 840 Pro | 2TB 860 QVO | 1TB 870 EVO | Seagate 3TB Cloud | EVGA 1000 GQ | Win10 Pro | EK Custom water cooling.
October 7, 201213 yr WOW. Thank you Leonhardt. IT WORKS!! (on my PC anyway) The difference is ten fold. Smoooooth!! I was about to ditch DX10 as even suggestions from Jim and Paul hadn't cracked it and then your post appeared like magic and solved it. Many thanks guys Phil Mosley - Rotation Films http://youtube.com/rotationfsx @RotationFilms
October 7, 201213 yr I don't believe it!!!! (mutter, mutter....no way, mutter, mutter  ) I have to try this. i7 [email protected] | 32GB RAM | EVGA RTX 3080Ti | Maximus Hero VII | 512GB 860 Pro | 512GB 850 Pro | 256GB 840 Pro | 2TB 860 QVO | 1TB 870 EVO | Seagate 3TB Cloud | EVGA 1000 GQ | Win10 Pro | EK Custom water cooling.
October 8, 201213 yr I put this in a few days ago to reduce loading times and I was wondering why there were no stutters all of the sudden! So simple! I wonder what the connection is between smoothness and preloading? Doesn't the tweak just stop it loading the default "falling at friday harbour" flight? Very interesting
October 8, 201213 yr That's what I thought. That's how many posters have suggested - only talking about the load time of just the spinning pic with the date/time and place, or the spinning pic with whole flight in the background - ready to go. Maybe preload actually means grabbing the next frames and caching them - something which I thought it did anyway, right? Maybe Steve can answer that one. i7 [email protected] | 32GB RAM | EVGA RTX 3080Ti | Maximus Hero VII | 512GB 860 Pro | 512GB 850 Pro | 256GB 840 Pro | 2TB 860 QVO | 1TB 870 EVO | Seagate 3TB Cloud | EVGA 1000 GQ | Win10 Pro | EK Custom water cooling.
October 8, 201213 yr IMHO, I don't like it. FSX starts loading scenery even before you hit the Fly Now button. Now I'm getting about 3-4 times longer load time when I hit the Fly Now button. I understand what it's doing and how it is solving peoples problems but this setting is ridiculous. It would be better to remove this "tweak" and the next time you fly, fill in the aircraft you want to fly, where you want the flight to start up, set your weather and time, then go have a cup of coffee at Starbucks and hit the Fly Now button when you return. Your flight will start up almost instantly. If you want to be entertained while waiting for your flight to be loaded, download and run Process Monitor and you'll see exactly what's being loaded even before you hit the Fly Now button! October 8, 201213 yr It's amazing how a controversy starts: I have had this Disable Preload=1 in the config for almost 60 years, and I've never noticed it as an impediment to the process of getting a flight going. I rarely use the default flight (whatever .FLT I had set up the last time I flew), often changing the aircraft or the time, or the location - or just plain loading a different flight. Sometimes I launch directly from the saved .FLT itself. For me it makes no difference at all, Jim. Yes - I love Starbuck's coffee - especially "Toffee Nut" flavour with Pike, but I'll just sit there with the usual dumb look on my mug until it starts. I figure I have to wait for the load whether it's there or not.... My two cents worth!! :Cuppa: i7 [email protected] | 32GB RAM | EVGA RTX 3080Ti | Maximus Hero VII | 512GB 860 Pro | 512GB 850 Pro | 256GB 840 Pro | 2TB 860 QVO | 1TB 870 EVO | Seagate 3TB Cloud | EVGA 1000 GQ | Win10 Pro | EK Custom water cooling.
October 8, 201213 yr LOL! Toffee Nut huh? Usual dumb look on my mug until it starts? Good stuff! In any case I gave you the solution for a fast startup (it's just that you have to go and drink a couple cups of coffee in between...). That's great when techie's like you show a great sense of humor. Makes me smile for sure! Best regards, Jim Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource! October 8, 201213 yr I find this Ironic. P3D doesn't have a splash screen and loads directly to default flight. People just scream bloody murder how they want a splash screen! maybe LM knows something?
October 8, 201213 yr You can do that with FSX too Rendi. You just need to set up a default flight and uncheck the box in the General settings that says Show Opening Screen (or something like that). October 10, 201213 yr It works for me as well! Thank you, Leonhardt! The screen tearing is gone! When I pan the view from inside or outside the aircraft, it's exactly like DX9. No tearing at all. This has saved DX-10 for me. I had pretty much given it up due to the distracting tearing. Now I just need to find a replacement AI traffic program to fix my WOAI blank textures. My test flight consisted of a quick hop from Orcas Island (Orbx) to S31. I'll do some additional testing but so far, so good!! Alexander Alonso
