October 10, 201213 yr I have been doing a lot of clandestine cargo runs with the C-46 as of late. Atka to Adak in Alaska, about 90 miles. Desided to see what the female co-pilot would say about a nice loop when we were at 15,000 feet heading directly toward the distination marker. She really let me have it. " Oh, I don't think we are supposed to pull this many g's. I think I heard the cargo slamming around back there! I don't think the clients will take kindly to damage. Your not really keeping a low profile. It's my butt on the line too. So please dont mess this up." Well, we landed without incident. When I checked the job board, low and behold, there was a return clandestine flight right back to Atka. Off we go again. Next I checked the job board on St. Paul island and there was a clandestine flight to St. George Island, only about 39 miles. This time I got the gruff male co-pilot. He was no fun at all. Awards: Cargo transported 25 tons. And Derring-do. Transport 5 tons of unknown cargo without detection. Steve
October 10, 201213 yr I'm betting it was black market monkeys... Seems like the thing to sneakily transport around Alaska.
October 10, 201213 yr I'll just be glad to get back flying again. Too much to do, and too little time. Thank you. Rick $Silver Donor EAA 1317610 I7-7700K @ 4.5ghz, MSI Z270 Gaming MB, 32gb 3200, Geforce RTX2080 Super O/C, 28" Samsung 4k Monitor, Various SSD, HD, and peripherals
October 10, 201213 yr Author Kindda cold weather for monkeys Loki. Must be the long shaggy fur variety. Maybe all white with really really big feet. Nice to hear from you again. Keep up the good work. I just love the many layers of detail every where you look. Steve
October 11, 201213 yr You're not really keeping a low profile. It's my butt on the line too. So please dont mess this up." I was flying clandestine into Ford Island once. Per my usual practice, I was at 10000 feet, to avoid the LEO's. My co-pilot was the laid-back guy. At some point, the cable to my Saitek X52 stick came unplugged, and I went into a spin. While I was reconnecting and recovering the co-pilot said, "Hey, are you trying to be seen? I don't want to be seen!"
October 11, 201213 yr Monkeys in Alaska = Baby Yetis That back and forth from Atka and Adak, I've seen that myself, but after one round trip, I wasn't about to go again. 90 miles is a long way to go in those little slow planes.
October 11, 201213 yr I've flown that route in the Maule several times. Doesn't take too long at 140 kts. either. Thank you. Rick $Silver Donor EAA 1317610 I7-7700K @ 4.5ghz, MSI Z270 Gaming MB, 32gb 3200, Geforce RTX2080 Super O/C, 28" Samsung 4k Monitor, Various SSD, HD, and peripherals
