October 10, 201213 yr Hi, Im trying to find posts relating to VAFS client and how to get it to recognize P3D. My search has turned up nothing, unless im blindly missing something. Im sick and tired of FSX crashing mid flight on a 8 hour leg or crashing on approach. Then I get all these penalty points on my virtual airline. Need to get serious about using P3D. But this is my hold back because VAFS is not recognizing Prepar3d. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. CYVR LSZH I7-14700k 64gb 6000Mhz DDR5 ASUS z690 ROG STRIX Gaming RTX 4080 Super,
October 10, 201213 yr I use VAFS with 2 different VA's and it works fine recognzing P3D. It uses FSUIPC, assuming one has the P3D FSUIPC version installed, so it shouldn't be a problem and it really doesn't know the difference from FSX to P3D. P3D is feeding the same perimeters through FSUIPC as FSX does, least that I have seen. I aslo use kAcars ( It too uses FSUIPC) and Delta's dedicated ACARS (Written specifically for P3D) with P3D with no problems.
October 10, 201213 yr It works, there is a thread over on the VAFS forum of how to do it. www.myvafinancials.com/v5 and its in the general discussion. Tom "I just wanna tell you both: good luck. We're all counting on you."
October 10, 201213 yr Author Thanks. Ill have a look again. I do have the latest fsuipc installed for p3d but it doesnt recognize it. CYVR LSZH I7-14700k 64gb 6000Mhz DDR5 ASUS z690 ROG STRIX Gaming RTX 4080 Super,
October 10, 201213 yr Author Ok, just went through all the threads there and no one is really helpful. There is many questions "Does VAFS work with P3D" Answer yes it does. you need FSUIPC. Thats great. I have the latest registered FSUIPC installed in P3d and VAFS does not recognize it. Was looking for what im missing and or doing wrong. October 10, 201213 yr I may point out, I run them on a network computer so I have choosen FSX WideFS in the settings and it works whether I have FSX or P3D loaded..
October 10, 201213 yr I think VAFS also needs to be in FS9 mode, in FSX mode VAFS wants to use simconnect. Tom "I just wanna tell you both: good luck. We're all counting on you."
October 10, 201213 yr I think VAFS also needs to be in FS9 mode, in FSX mode VAFS wants to use simconnect. Could very well be. But if that were the case, why can I run it using WideFS/FSUIPC only on a network computer. Also if it works in FS9 mode it wouldn't be a simconnect app? For FSX, does it require FSUIPC installed as a stand alone on the sim computer? From Pete:" As far as I can see, looking at the VAFS 5 web-site, it doesn't use FSUIPC." end quote So, when telling VAFS your using FS9 or FSX WideFS, it will use FSUIPC to read P3D parameters instead of P3D simmconect. Think I would try FSX WideFS as there are a few different parameters in FSX, not huge though. Learn something new today. There much differences when running on a client computer! Easier
October 10, 201213 yr Author It doesnt seem that complicated I would think. Why would you have to go into FS9 mode if it recognizes FSX in the first place. And I dont see how a networked computer would make a difference. But Ive been wrong many times b4. The threads i have read all just say yes they work together. but no specifics. Ive posted the question in the VAFS forum as well. Thanks for the input CYVR LSZH I7-14700k 64gb 6000Mhz DDR5 ASUS z690 ROG STRIX Gaming RTX 4080 Super,
October 10, 201213 yr And I dont see how a networked computer would make a difference. Because when running on a network computer. VAFS ask if its a WideFS setup. Then it reads FSUIPC and not simconnect. Simconnect in a network setting can be a PITA to setup. Specially for those not familiar with it. It was wise of VAFS.
October 10, 201213 yr I run vafs without an issue, all i did was change the simulator type in vafs options and it works fine. Will Reynolds Flight Sim Addict
October 10, 201213 yr Author I run vafs without an issue, all i did was change the simulator type in vafs options and it works fine. I looked at that, and im only seeing the type options as being FSX,FS9. xplane, and widefs. CYVR LSZH I7-14700k 64gb 6000Mhz DDR5 ASUS z690 ROG STRIX Gaming RTX 4080 Super,
October 10, 201213 yr I am not in front of the machine but from memory it was fsx widefs. Basically just connects via fsuipc. Will Reynolds Flight Sim Addict
October 10, 201213 yr If it were me. i would choose WideFS (FSX) and at the top right, point to my Prepar3D installation. Let it do the makersrwy thing.. Just to see if it would work. In fact, I set it up on my sim computer just as described and it sees P3D and works fine! Aircraft ready to fly YES and FS aircraft Located at Dept Airport: YES and records data. You need to restart VAFS after making changes.
