October 12, 201213 yr Not certain how many of us exist in here, but we should choose a point in time and an airport and make an effort to have a get together. Is this just me being sentimental? or does this idea have more than butterfly wings? I appreciate we are spread far and wide in different time zones but that's all part of the challenge.
October 14, 201213 yr Well rather than let you just sit, I would just say that my experience is that flight simmers tend to be solitary beasties, and many flight users have never even tried multiplayer. Add in the time issues and I suspected when I first saw this thread that the idea might languish. Simmers with that bent from here tend to occasionally gather at this site: msflights.net Though even they now concentrate more and more on FSX gatherings. We are all connected..... October 14, 201213 yr Author Lol oh I so agree but I thought that I'd post it anyway just cause... Maybe I'll bump into some of you if your ever in multiplayer and you never know we might even have fun. Personally, although I still fly Flight and am really waiting for winter to explore some more, I've spent more and more time in FSX which I've now finally got running really smoothly. It's still not a patch on Flight though (To get it to run as smoothly as Flight I'm gonna have to get an even bigger monster than the one i got!) but with all the addons on top of addons, and tweaks on on top of tweaks, some major surgery and sticky plaster it's come out pretty good. The time spent doing this though was time spent away from Flight. So, I thought I'd give the post a shot. Thanks for replying though its much appreciated. Still visit here every day though!
October 15, 201213 yr I have been visiting FSX recently as well, but I find that flight has changed me! The cycle of endless acquisition has been broken. I've learned so much more in flight than I ever did in FSX, and its because flight managed to get me to slow down and smell the roses, rather than racing wildly from flower to flower. I also have a new urge for multiplayer, but not in FSX. We are all connected..... To each other, biologically...... To the Earth, chemically...... To the rest of the Universe atomically. October 17, 201213 yr There used to be a time when I would watch for those Kalo flights and meet up. It was always fun to fly with people, especially ones that use airplane ettiquitte. Back on topic... I live in Virginia (EST) and would enjoy meeting up with you guys in Flight. All you have to do is set up a time and an airport to fly into. I would even meet up late at night on the weekends if the majority of people were in China. ^_^ "Arguing with a pilot is like wrestling with a pig in the mud, after a while you begin to think the pig likes it."
October 17, 201213 yr Someone come up with a time and day. Then, we'll see who all can make an impromptu fly-in. If we have to adjust times and dates, that's ok too. Pick an airport, everyone meets on the ramp, then fly to another destination. I would recommend making the fly-in somewhat aircraft specific also as the Cubs won't be able to keep up with the faster fellows. Maybe one time it could be a Cub fly-in, then one could be Maule's, then C-46's, etc.... This is in no way an attempt to not include anyone though. I'm just speaking of a theme. Everyone would be welcome regardless of what they fly. I hope you understand what I'm getting at. I'm sure with all the imagination and talent on this forum, we can put something together that will make most everyone happy. Please post your ideas in this thread, and if something is settled on, we can make it in it's own thread. That way we could have pilots comments in the proper thread. Thank you. October 21, 201213 yr Author Here goes... This is going to be called 'Canyon Run' and is dedicated to the Flight Devs and one in particular called Wedge. During the beta when we were stress testing the Flight servers many of us gathered in multiplayer and I was lucky enough to be in the same room as Wedge. He suggested we all do a canyon run. I don't remember how many of us were in the room at the time, but their were quite a few. It was the best fun I'd had in Flight. 1 - Gather at Waimea-Kohala PHMU 2 - Line up on 04 and take off in formation. 3 - Fly a heading of 350 and circle, at the mouth of the canyon. 4 - When the word is given by the flight leader (to be nominated) dive into the canyon in a line. 5 - once everyone has safely negotiated the canyon and emerged head to Upolu PHUP and land. That's it, a bit of fun to kick things off. Now we know the place we need to decide a time, day and who's in. The stress test took place at around 22:00 UTC I think, which seemed a good time for most. This is just a suggestion.
