October 15, 201213 yr Hey fellas, just had a thought. If I effectively 'switch off' my default aircraft, will they still be used for AI purposes? Forget default aircraft for everything, even for AI. Go get everything from World of AI. Excellent (better than the default) framerates, and excellent variety at airports all around the globe. A bit offtopic, but I'll bite.... If you decide to build something yourself (let's say a piece of furniture), are you going to manufacture each single part yourself, or would you go to the shops to buy nails, fabric and other stuff? You call it lazyness, others call it being efficient and not reinventing the wheel . There is also something called business ethics -> charging others for something that you did NOT create yourself.

As long as you "switch off" them via panel_off method, then AI will still use the default planes if they are in an AI flightplan. That is why I keep my default aircraft but only rename panel folder so that FSX can still access the planes for AI uses as well as for missions. (Yes there a a huge number of missions that use default aircraft as part of missions..! and then you still need those aircraft otherwise mission will just not work/not be the same as intended)
