October 16, 201213 yr I'm wondering if this will work in FSX? The TSS forum link is broken and their web site says the package is for FS9. However SimShack sells what seems to be the same package and advertises it as FS9/FSX. Do FS9 sound packages normally work in FSX or do you need a "native" FSX sound package? Another question I guess is whether or not a sound package is worth the bucks at all. Is there a noticable difference? I fly mainly the CS 727 and PMDG MD-11 so would get both as sound (for me anyway) really increases the level of immersion.
October 16, 201213 yr There was a thread recently in the MD-11 forum saying that you're better off not getting the TSS pack for their MD. I just got the MD-8X one for the CLS MD-81. It was a massive improvement from a low starting position. Based on that sound though, I don't think it would be worth it for your MD. I checked out some other suppliers re the 72 and the result would leave me suspicious about using the FS9 version - but I can't say I'm certain. Mike Mike Dryden
October 16, 201213 yr Commercial Member Yes FS9 soundpacks do almost always work on FSX and that one surely does too, I use FS9 soundpack from TSS with my DC-9, later they released HD FSX version though but I'm still happy enough with this FS9 one. It just might be in a bit worse quality and also FS9 soundpacks don't take advantage from advanced sound features of FSX (you hear same sound both in front and back of engines when with FSX native ones you can hear the difference).

If you want to test it yourself, pick up a decent FS9 soundpack from the library and try it out in FSX. If you are happy with how it works in FSX then I guess you have your answer. BTW, I have an FS9 TSS soundpack in FSX, no problems at all. October 16, 201213 yr Author Thanks Jesse, I was wondering because TSS have both FS9 and FSX versions for some products on their website so there is clearly a difference but it sounds like it is minor. What is the "delta?" Is there a big jump in quality going from the regular sound files to the TSS ones? Which aircraft are you using? I'm a little reluctant to test things as I've had a few bad experiences and would rather get some feedback first. Thanks!
October 16, 201213 yr In FSX, there is no such thing as a soundpack that "won't work". What I mean is that if you place a soundpack from FS9 that contains low quality audio files into FSX the resulting sound simulation will be very distorted, it will still work but not nicely, it will work fine back in FS9. So, for example, if use Emil Serafino's CF6-80C2 sounpack for FS9 (http://library.avsim...php?DLID=168085) in FSX, it will sound perfect, no distortion, because the sound files are high quality and well mixed. I'm using this soundpack on the PMDG 747 at the moment in FSX, it's well worth trying out on your MD-11, though there is no sound-cones. However if you use an older sound pack for FS9 (I'm not going to give a bad example, it's kind of mean on the person who made it in FSX that isn't as well put together it will get distorted and sound horrendous!!! Now, on to TSS. Their soundpacks are incredibly well put together, high quality sound recordings etc. So, a TSS soundpack for FS9 will not get distorted in any way in FSX, it will sound just as it would in FS9 with no funny glitches. I'm using the TSS 727 JT8D soundpack in FSX, CS 727, no problems at all! Obviosly though, an FSX native soundpack is way better, it has sound-cones etc. Adam Murphy and I worked on an FSX native JT3D sounpack for FSX, it's here in the library. Pretty soon though, he's going to be releasing an FSX native JT8D and soundpack for FSX, it will have the 727 specific version of the JT8D model included. Sample: Personally, I would wait for this to be released and try it out first before rushing and buying the TSS version for FS9. After all, it will have FSX sound-cones and will be free!If you really want the TSS JT8D soundpack for FS9, it will work fine in FSX no problem Regards, Jesse Jesse Casserly ✌🏼️ https://www.youtube.com/user/JesseCasserly757 💻 i7-10750H 2.6 GHz / 5.0 GHz, 16GB DDR4, 512GB SSD, 1TB HDD, RTX 2080 Super Saitek X-56 HOTAS
