October 16, 201213 yr I've installed Ut2 2.09 and run fsx on win 7 x64 with an ati 5850 (i7 2600k at 4.7ghz).. i get fairly smooth (non weather) performance of around 30 fps (locked 30fps)... I've found that after installing ut2 and setting the two ut2 based options to 100% and checked off.. while letting fsx ai set to 0 and 0 for ga/airlines.. that the sim will literally freeze at random for maybe 2 seconds.. then continue on at full frame rate. This is before hitting the addons option to even start UT2 traffic. I also think i've found that if i hit the addon option to reset traffic.. then start, then hit stop on traffic.. it will smooth out and not run into this.. but this is tedious to do each time you use fsx. Of course if i go into ut2 and disable / uncheck the ga/airline weekly traffic options.. then use fsx.. i dont get any freezing/stuttering... Any thoughts here.. i'd like to be able to use ut2, but if its going to cause that much of a freeze/stutter i'm seriously questioning its worth. October 16, 201213 yr Author Are you on the ground or in the air when this happens? If your on the ground what airports for example? Its in the air though i havent confirmed ground yet, will do so later. Doesnt seem to matter location.. it could be the fsmark07 ksea area (with or without NA ftx enabled pretty sure).. or any other region with only a few airports 20 miles apart.. My typical fsmark07 120sec test using my sliders which are pretty maxed out relatively speaking.. goes from 27.8 fps over 120 sec to 17.8-19.8 fps with ut2 enabled (but i havent hit the start button in the addons menu for traffic to start.. though this doesnt seem to matter, same fps).. this is a reflection of the visible "pauses" that drop say a 27fps to 19 or 21 at random here and there. I've got jetways unchecked and tried generic repaints unchecked too. Sidenote : when did hit start on traffic, i would only see maybe 3-5 planes in a given region after many minutes passed (busy regions like lax for instance). Another footnote is that I think it was post ut2 install or maybe another program.. there was an error log generated on aircrafts installed.. many reporting missing textures and so forth.. I dont have many custom or "odd" aircraft installed, so maybe thats typical and unrelated here but worth mentioning i think Asus Strix z790-e; 1000 watt evga SuperNova Plat; 14900k AC_LL 0.55 adp -0.050 253/253/355 CEPoff (CB-1pass 39200 80c, msfs peak 92,avg 60-78c, astrorender 95c,room76F); 64GB(dual 32) cl32 6400 at 6400 xmpII F5-6400J3239G32GX2-TZ5RK, Asus Ryuo III 360mm; Thermaltake v51 Case; Gigabyte 4090 OC; VR-Crystal; Dofreality H6; Astrosite

October 17, 201213 yr Lets me put it this way, on my machine i have used every kind of traffic program there is for fsx, UT2 is the only one that caused heavy stutters. Just flight TrafficX was good on frames But MyTraffic series, for me is the top all things being considered, and its got no competition, in my book. Search UT2 on this forum, and you'll see there is conflicting info regards UT2 stutters, on my system its literraly used to freeze the screen not even stutter. And this is on i7-920 at over 4Ghz at the time.
October 17, 201213 yr If anything you should only be experiencing problems on the ground at large airports where there are lots of planes moving around. If your in the air and experiecing stutters then something is wrong somewhere. i hardly notice any slow down at all with Ultimate Traffic II while in the air. On the ground at places like KORD or KJFK with 40 or 50 planes moving around yeah your gonna notice a big performance hit. I use Ultimate Traffic II to supplement my traffic on Vatsim on long hauls. I turn it off on Approach or Departure so I can tell which planes are actually Vatsim traffic. As for the missing textures and errors I had that problem one time too. Sounds like you accidentally deleted some of the plane files or there is a corruption somewhere. I would suggest you reinstall Ultimate Traffic II.That is what fixed it for me. Now as far as starting traffic. In previous version of Ultimate Traffic II the traffic would not come on until you selected the start option in FSX. But with the latest version of Ultimate Traffic even if you don't do that, but go to outside view or do a bunch of things it starts on it's own. Very annoying. However this is easily remedied. Anytime you flying and want to turn it off just load ultimate traffic II while in the air and set to 0 percent. Then when back inside the sim just hit the stop or reset option. That is the only way to do it with version 2.09. Paul Deemer
October 17, 201213 yr if i go into ut2 and disable / uncheck the ga/airline weekly traffic options.. then use fsx.. i dont get any freezing/stuttering... Looks like all of the GA aircraft and flight plans were not installed properly for UT2. I would uninstall/reinstall that program. FSX loads and runs your AI programs unless you disable them in the FSX scenery folder by renaming the bgl. FSX loads all bgl's whether you want them loaded or not. You might want to look into the Scenery/World/Scenery folder and disable any .bgl relating to GA. I don't own UT2 so can't give you anything exactly what to look for. That is the only way to do it with version 2.09. I did a reinstall again, after removing the ut2 folders etc.. this time around things are looking up.. in testing the fsxmark07 flight.. i did initially get a stutter or two.. but it went away and stayed away after the first few seconds (no big deal)....(this at 100% in ut2 and 0 in fsx).. my avg frame rate in the 120 sec test was 23.65 (down from 27.8 or so).. I then tried it at 60% airline, 30% ga.. the frame rate ended up at 25.99 which in my book is not much of a drop and great. However.. i'm still mainly seeing traffic just on the ground (and usually not moving).. in the air, maybe 1-3 planes at best over 10 minutes time.. Is this typical.. I've checked the world scenery directory, the file trafficaircraft.bgl.passive is listed I have two other files possibly related to ga at least: Traffic_ORBX_NRM_GA.bgl UTX_PAGA_AP.BGL In supertraffic board i can see flights incoming and outbound too.. so its my guess the ai is ok? About the only other thing happening that could be an issue is that on fsx closing it crashes with ai_player.dll error.. pretty generic from what i understand.. I may have something in the exe.xml or dll.xml that is causing grief on exit would be my guess, not related to lack of traffic within fsx. October 18, 201213 yr the only other thing happening that could be an issue is that on fsx closing it crashes with ai_player.dll error This error comes from the installation of FTX/Orbx PNW. If you go to their forum and do a search for the ai_player.dll, you will find the fix. I had the same error for a long, long time and I had heard it was caused by PNW and the developers were trying to find what object was causing the error. It seems they issued a "fix" to PNW that caused the error to occur so they had to issue another fix to fix that one. Anyway, details over at the FTX/Orbx Forums (you'll have to search though...). In regards to the GA traffic bgl's you found in the world/scenery folder.... If you are still having problems with GA enabled in your UT2 program, you might disable one or both of the .bgl's you listed as maybe they are conflicting. You can disable by changing the bgl to .bgl.original. For instance I could see UT2 have a flight plan for a GA and the UTX having exactly the same aircraft/flight plan. You can't have the same aircraft flying the same route from two different files. This may not be what is happening. Just a theory. Is there a reason to enable the Orbx and UTX GA traffic?
