DX10 AA - Getting more quality?

Featured Replies

So far, I am absolutely LOVING the new DX10 fix - amazing. However in the NGX with current AA (the maximum AA as described in the how-to) the MCP still remains a bit blurry when at .40 or .30 zoom. in DX9 I bumped up AA more in order to sharpen the VC. I have tried in DX10 to no avail.. I've tried raising the #'s in the cfg as follows:

MultiSamplesPerPixel=4 (also tried 8 with no luck) // Must have for good AA

MultiSampleQuality=16 // Can be 4 for better performance.

Is there any way to improve AA? As it is right now it is pretty good though, but not DX9 good.

What are your NI settings, David?

Exactly as according to the 3 examples in the how-to pdf.. tried all three.

Hmmmph! I can only suggest you read Steve's blog about AA, David - I have no other suggestion. I don't have the NGX and have no issues with anything that I fly - mostly all GA, and one airliner - the Maddog, and I don't even have issues with it - so you can tell - I have no taste when it comes to AA!

I already get good quality.. though i want to go HIGHER than 8x, etc.. at the FPS im getting now, i could handle 16xSQ easily.

Try the "Sweet FSX" SMAA Injector, David. See what you think. It's interesting, and you might find a configuration that fits your bill!

Here's the specific download, as the author's site has two different ones..

Yep I found that after my previous post - it does do the trick well!

Yeah - in stock form it certainly sharpens the whole scene: I'm not using it just yet, and only tried the one flight, but it looks like it will make many people happy. I think this - or one of them will be the answer, but I also think, though it will come with a frame loss penalty.. We shall see. Need more folks to test it! :good:

Would be interested to hear your thoughts Paul. I've been keeping an eye on that thread about it but haven't downloaded it just yet. DX10 are working so well I don't want to do anything that could risk the smoothness! However I shall also try it this week and report back.

I have changed it so that it is used for the sharpen only. I didn't notice any impact on performance.
