October 27, 201213 yr Hi All, I'm thinking about upgrading from a PNY 1GB 9800 Pro to a GTX 560.I run a Q9550 overclocked to 3.45GHZ with XP 64 bit.I run both FS9 and FSX. Will I see significant speed and visual quality improvements with this switch?Enough to justify the money? Thanks Stan
October 27, 201213 yr Commercial Member Why not a 660Ti? That's a more worthwhile upgrade. But if I were you, I'd focus on revamping the whole system. Maybe start with the processor? It's been said time and again that FSX is CPU bound. But if you're happy with your quality and frames, and are maybe looking for a bit more SGSS or AA, then yeah, go for it. Have it as a stepping stone to a bigger upgrade. Aamir Thacker
October 27, 201213 yr I would do it. Even with your current CPU there is more you can get out of your system. I went from a 9600GT to a GTX460 and certainly do not regret it. Use nvidia inspector to set 8XSQ AA, 16XAF, and 1/2 refresh rate Vsync, and you've got good and smooth visuals. Bert
October 27, 201213 yr Author And would I be better off with a 2GB GTX 550TI or a 1GB 560TI? is there that much difference performance wise between the 550 and 560?I'm budget limited by the way.
October 27, 201213 yr The 560 Ti would be best, performance wise. 1 GB is plenty of memory for FSX. Also check the power supply requirements before you buy! The 560 draws a lot more power.. If your power supply is marginal, the 550 may be your only choice.. Bert
October 27, 201213 yr Hi, I would highly reccomend going with one of the new Kepler cards. The GTX660Ti is a great bang for buck.
