October 30, 201213 yr This may seem silly but since buying PMDG's 737NGX a month ago, I am constantly being told off by the controllers for not changing level and direction quickly enough! The problem is that previously Otto flew my planes, but Otto cannot fly a PMDG and I have to do it myself (just the vectored landings, the rest is under FMC control) and I cannot manage to twiddle the MCP knobs and set the actions quickly enough. Is there a way to slow the required reaction time down or is there another way to manage levels and direction? I know I can just ignore the warnings but that doesn't seem right. October 30, 201213 yr You can delay RC's impatient controller's chatter by delaying an ack until the aircraft starts responding to the change. The downside is if you cross a waypoint to be credited RC will not see that crossing while waiting for an ack so delay the ack only if location allows. RC will wait quite some time before issuing a complaint about waiting for your ack and repeating the command. There are two or three choices to respond to a command. (1) Ack and Contact, (2) Ack, (3) Contact. (1) and (3) only come up with a controller/frequency change. I fly the PMDG 737NG series and other complex aircraft and do not use a copilot for flying or communications. I sometimes need a repeat on a request. For comm tuning I use autotune which while not as realistic allows me to respond faster to frequency changes. If you get too many command repeats you'll hear in the critique about improving your listening skills but you will not get a license suspension
