October 31, 201213 yr Hello Im having problems with fsx, random hanging is really getting me down, this is probably a failure to do something on my behalf but any advice would be welcome. October 31, 201213 yr Commercial Member Hi James, Since your rig appears to be overclocked, the first thing to do is revert back to stock CPU and memory speeds. After that you will know if it's a hardware or a software issue. If it keeps hanging at stock speeds (and assuming you installed everything at stock speed), you can fairly assume FSX is OK, and it's one of the add-ons causing this. You don't have to re-install everything though... For add-ons, look at the dll.xml file under C:\Users\your_user_name\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX\dll.xml First, backup that file, so you can restore it later if needed. You will see a list of add-on dlls that are supposed to load when FSX starts. Make sure all of them have <ManualLoad>True</ManualLoad> If this line is missing, manually add-it for every add-on listed. Next time you start FSX, you'll be prompted for each add-on. Say "No" to all of them, and you'll have default FSX + whatever_extra_sceneries_installed, but no add-on dlls loaded. If it's stable, re-run FSX and enable 1 dll at a time. That will narrow it down. October 31, 201213 yr Hi James Unfortunately there is no faulty module in the error report. AppHangB1 not only happens on FSX but can be sourced by other modules and it I may be raised by the operating system in response to UI events like sound, graphics, keyboard, mouse etc. Sometimes a resource might be overlapped by more than one application. I see Gerald already posted some suggestions, and I agree, first thing is to disable your PC's overclocking and work the dll.xml file. Also change this: [sOUND] SOUND_LOD=1 // Change 0 to 1 PrimaryDevice={00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000} VoiceDevice={00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000} To valid GUID’s From the main FSX screen select settings -> sounds and set both your sound sources. (I’m not on my PC now, but I think they are Voice and Ambience, select your sound card for both.) Do you have the Vista x86 (32 bit) version of UIAutomationCore.dll in your main FSX folder? You have FSUIPC installed, do you have the latest version? Please let us know how it goes. Ramón. Time, is the one thing no one can buy.
October 31, 201213 yr Author thanks for the reply guys im gonna give this advice a shot, the thing is it is so random, that crash report was from a flight out of aerosofts Gibraltar x and the first time it hung, just replicated that flight and it works. add on's in use at the time ase rex essential aerosoft gibraltar x radar contact v4.3 gex utx fsuipc <----- latest version. I'll give the above advice a go and report back. Thanks James. James C
October 31, 201213 yr Author btw yes i do have the vista UIAutomationCore.dll in my fsx directory. James C
October 31, 201213 yr Hopefully it is fixed but some with this problem have found that the logbook.bin is corrupted. You can delete it and let FSX rebuild it or your can try and fix it with fsxlogrecovery11.zip found here on AVSIM. If you are still having the problem recheck your system memory config in the BIOS and make sure your CPU voltage is not too high or too low. Power supplies can cause these types of crashes too if they cannot handle the load. You have your system overclocked so you should have at least a 700W PSU or higher. If you don't, you'll have to bring your overclock down to maybe 4.0 or lower. Best regards, Jim Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource! October 31, 201213 yr I see your using Ultimate traffic 2 according to your .cfg I had very similar CTD while also using my traffic programme maybe you could uninstall your traffic just for a test flight and see if that stops it. Most my CTD were cause by one AI traffic programme or another Good Luck Stephen Asus Z170 Deluxe, 32 GB DDR4 Dominator Platinum, i7 6700k mild overclock, GTX Titan ( Pascal ) Win10
October 31, 201213 yr Author Hello So far I have completely removed my overclock............still got a crash, xmp profile is normal and the voltage is fine. Have edited my fsx.cfg as Kabronicus suggested..........crash Am working my way through FS++ suggestions, not complete yet but I still got a crash. My windows 7 installation is old now, would a reformat help me here ? I have been running Process Explorer, memory has not gone much over 4.2gb. Maximum frustration :( would radar contact v4.3 and ut2 cause problems. my traffic setting in fsx is 0 and my ifr traffic is 35% in utx vfr 0%. James C
October 31, 201213 yr As i said above Most my CTD were cause by one AI traffic programme or another I would remove UT2 and give it a try, nothing to lose Stephen Asus Z170 Deluxe, 32 GB DDR4 Dominator Platinum, i7 6700k mild overclock, GTX Titan ( Pascal ) Win10
November 1, 201213 yr Author an update for you all.. removing ut2 did not fix my problems, I stress tested my machine for the best part of the morning, I run memtest86 run a good 7 passes it returned 0 errors......, prime95 run for two hours and nothing, so i started looking at the drive I have fsx exclusively installed on, a 180gb corsair force gs ssd, checking for firmware updates I noticed they have released v5.03 I was on v5.02 after updating to this I have had 0 ctd's, atm I am trying to break fsx in flight and I cant, could this old firmware be the cause of my problems ? Right now I am a happy flyer, should I install ut2 again or would I be tempting fate ? Thanks for the advice guys I will report back if my ctd problems return. James C
November 1, 201213 yr Definitely reinstall UT2 again as you need to know if this is the issue or not. Regarding AI, you have to understand AI is installed all around the world where your AI program has flightplans to/from even though you are not flying there. It can be a framerate killer if you are not careful with the percentage loaded. I recommend no more than 40%. You can change this for a specific airport you really want to see a lot of AI and move the sliders to 100% then save it in the FSX settings as My_AI_Configuration. You can then load that configuration any time you want. Some firmware updates are great if they affect performance. I also check for firmware updates for my SSD and have updated it at least once. You might also look into buying a good driver update program that you can periodically check for driver updates to all of your hardware and software on your system. If you are an expert computer user, you can check for updates on your own but some of these driver programs are pretty good in finding and updating your system to the latest. I was looking for one for your system too but couldn't (I probably didn't try really hard). Maybe this is one reason why I seem to have fewer CTD's than others.... Glad to hear you are back up and running again. Hopefully you have fixed your issue. Best regards, Jim Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource!
