Number of liveries

Featured Replies

Hi all,

This may seem an odd question but I often see on the forums that people only load up certain liveries. Is this purely personal taste or is there anything wrong with having as many as you can get installed ?

At the moment I tend to grab as many as i can.

I think it's just a matter of personal taste. Some people like to be realistic about it and on the routes they like to fly the most, they will only load up liveries that actually fly the route in real life. Personally, I'm not that realistic and I'll fly with a Westjet Livery in Europe, and a Ryan Air livery in North America just for fun. Again, it's just personal preference.

I download all of them, but I only installed the liveries I'd likely fly (the rest get stored on an external HD in their zipped state). I don't fly much outside of the States, so there's no point in installing the ones I wouldn't use. I'm too much of a realism snob to fly KLM routes around the US.

Personally,

I fly all around the world with realistic routes. I get nearly every 737-800WL because that's truly the only one I really like. Therefore, if I'm using China Airlines, I'm going to either leave or arrive from one of their major hubs.

Example: Beijing-Shanghai on China Airlines

Atlanta to Minneapolis on Delta

I am not only a stickler for using the correct livery on the route but the type of plane has to be used on that route also. Delta has a ton of flights between Atlanta and Tampa but they are all 752 planes. So no PMDG 737-800 on that route but I am flying a Delta 737-800 from Orlando to Los Angles right now. I could also have done an American 737-800. I believe FlightAware showed a United 738 also.

Keep in mind that swaps do occur. I know I've flown the IAD-ATL route in the 738 a couple times mirroring an actual assigned 738 flight (not sure about TPA).

I'm scheduled on a 763 from IAD to MUC in January, but the past 14 flights displayed on FlightAware have all been 772s.

Further, I was supposed to be on a 762 from IAD to MIA a while back, and it was actually flown in a 741 (UAL flew them at the time - probably one of its last flights, actually, as they were retired that year). That was a treat.
