November 6, 201213 yr Easy to find without the aerocache tracker. The island isn't that big. If you've flown into Anchorage, you already know where the island is. It has the VOR on it. Nice short hop in the Icon. Low and Threatening weather give you opportunities to practice crosswind operations, as the closest runway is 36 (360 degrees) to the 14 knot wind from the northeast. November 7, 201213 yr Funny thing. I was already sitting on the runway at fire island with a C-46 overnight waiting for a boat load of fuel to arrive from Anchorage. Ist time I had been there.
