July 19, 200421 yr Does anyone have any good sugestions as how to plan your fuel usage for a 747 flight. Say for example, London - Chicago or London Newyork?I was under the impression that Chicago was near the 74s limit, but I was wrong, according to the POSKY 2004.8.5 FDE with a full fuel load of 360K it has enough fuel to fly there and back!
July 19, 200421 yr You can use the fuel planner from the PSS 747. It is in the library here:http://www.avsim.com/pss/manuals/fuelplanner.zip ------------------------- Craig from KBUF
July 19, 200421 yr "I was under the impression that Chicago was near the 74s limit, "Hi,From Europe, Chicago is about 9-10 hours (depending on where you leave in Europe). The B744 has an endurance of more then 14 hours (that's the KLAX-YSSY flight time, which is flown non-stop by the B744). KLAX-YMML (also a B744 non-stop) is more like 14 1/2 hours I believe, although Qantas may use their B744ER on this, I'm not sure. The latest Flight International (larger Farnborough edition) has details of a possible stretch for the B744, using the 7E7 engines (with air bleed mods).Bruce.
