November 14, 201213 yr After several unsuccessful tries, I finally downloaded REX Essential Plus. I am a REX Environment Extreme user for my textures and clouds, but I used WEATHER with my wonderful Active Sky Evolution. My question is this: Now that Weather seems to load really fast with REP (because it didn't before), should I continue to use ASE for weather. I tried the REX weather, and I have to admit that I really liked the look of the weather. It was accurate and the clouds looked awesome. Should I continue to use ASE for the weather? What's your educated opinions on this. Stan
November 14, 201213 yr Just go with whatever gives you the best experience. I wouldn't stick with AS just because that's what you always used. Go with your gut. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
November 15, 201213 yr Author OK...but I think I have a little learning curve here. I look forward to it. Stan
November 15, 201213 yr Moderator Hi Stan, I'm a bit biased as I've been on the beta team with Damian forever......;-) For me it was (and still is) always important to have an accurate depiction of whatever the metars report. Some engines may look great, but do they really accurately display what's reported? How about wind shifts, winds aloft, and weather updates not disconnecting your AP........ I think the latest AS2012 patch (2) is fantastic. I love the new startup screen that basically asks you about what type of flying you're about to do (high and fast vs. low and slow etc.) and I'm achieving great results with regards to both visual satisfaction and accuracy. I believe Hifi has the most mature engine, great user interface and continued support in addition to a great overall package (textures, historical weather, user interface etc.), but as I said, I may be a bit biased since I've been with the team for so long. Having said that, as a "responsible beta tester" I have purchased other products for my own comparison, and I have yet to change weather engines ;-) Hope this helps, Pete I9-13900K, RTX 4090, DR5-6000MHZ, CORSAIR ICUE H150I ELITE, ASUS PRIME Z790-P, THERMALTAKE TOUGHPOWER GF3 1350W, WIN 11

November 15, 201213 yr Interesting, I am on the verge on buying REX.... seems a number of you guys have had un-needed headaches over the simplest of just downloading and installing it.... Richard... Amateur Pilot and UK Web Hosting Guru 🙂
November 15, 201213 yr yea seems that its complicated but users make it so, as long you install it correctly you shouldnt have any problems. Most common faults users have not running the program as admin rights, installing it in the default location and not installing it as admin as well is another.
