PMDG 737 NGX and "hardware" Cockpit

Featured Replies

Hello everyone,

I plan to build a cockpit of 737.

For various reasons, that is not currently possible.

I'm very interested by the PMDG 737NGX.

In order not to buy several times of the material, I would like to know what is compatible with the addon.

- Opencockpit SIOC? (for Switchs, short props, etc…)

- Opencockpit Plug&play (radios, EFIS, MCP, CDU)?

- CPflight

- Saitek

- Leo bodnar card.

And all other which I do not know.

I think of knowing that a communication software exists now between the PMDG and other interfaces to be able to build cockpit but I do not know the name.

All your remarks, suggestions, opinions are welcome.

In advance thank you,

Fred

NB: Sorry for my poor english

I guess he missed the bit where he had squillions do dollars :P.

From what I know, the 737ngx isn't the best at building home cockpits. I have a friend, just completed worldflight on it, who has one built out of a competing product. They also have a home cockpit edition, but it will cost you two arms and two legs. Part of building a home cockpit though.

You can get the MIP with the CDU bay from FDS for about ~3000+, electronics and everything else will set you back about ~1000+

This excludes the Throttle (~1500, by jetmax, just ordered one), CDU (FDS is kind of pricey compared to the competitors), and MCP (I would personally go with CP Flight). We haven't factored in the overhead, or the pedestal, or other accessories like a weber chair, yoke, pedals, visuals, etc.

Its an expensive hobby but if you spread it out over a period of time, you can probably afford at least 1-2k spending a year on some hardware. You can slowly build up.

Hi Fred,

im building my PMDG737NGX with OpenCockpits cards + SIOC + FSUPC and... I bought locally ( IT ) switches/pushbuttons/leds and so on.

- Mimo 720s USB 7" touchscreen as FMC ( really really cheap and very nice ) you save 200€

- Prosimparts company is from Belgium cheaper than i never seen and a very good quality (www.prosimparts.com)

Probably you wouldnt need Leo cards. I dont know if you have some experience on programming but sioc is events oriented and you can find tons of scripts on the net. YOu have only to tune them on you buttons, switches and leds position on the I/O cards. Trust me you'll take maybe time to have all ready but this will save your money and big personal satisfacion.

Hello everybody, Hello Francesco,

Thanks for your reactions.

FDS is not a solution for me, it's too expensive. :P

But francesco, i'm very interesting about your SIOC programmation.

I know very well the open cockpit's products and it's a good news that SIOC is possible to "drive" the PMDG.

In fact, my project is to build a cockpit on Prosim737 but, I have no space for it at the moment.

Just for example, is it possible to have your Script francesco ?

I know that MCP CDU and efis is now fully compatible with the plug and play opencockpit's products.

Thanks in advance,

Fred

Yes it is Fred,

Actually Im using SIOC to drive: Gear lights, Flaps, Warning & Bell lights, Sixpac lights (homemade whit OC panes) ASA lights and Im waiting overhead panels from ProSimParts, MCP-PRO and EFIS from GoFlight and Multiradio usb from OC.

I'll send the script asap on PM

Sir please can you send me the script to. That what i was looking for 2 months.

If youre serious about building a hardware cockpit, I suggest you do a little more research and see what software / hardware is most common. Check out some of the home cockpit forums.
