Install FSX in a non default directory ( Windows 7 )

Featured Replies

Since 2 weeks I use Windows 7 64 bit and now I want to install FSX ( Deluxe Edition on DVD's )

I read that PMDG suggests not to install it into the default directory which is c:/ProgramFiles(x86)/

MicrosoftGames/FSX but rather into something like c:\FSX

Therefore I made a folder c:/FSX and the question is: how do I install FSX into that

folder ? ( PMDG intructions mention nothing )

When I install FSX there is no option to choose a different directory and it ends up in

the default directory again.

Can anybody tell me how to do it ?

There is an option right at the beginning of the installation.

It could be easy overseen, yes, and I do not know the exact phrase, but it is sth. like "customize" ... or "options"

I have found a picture. It's german but it is translated "further otions"

(but I do not know the english exact phrase)

Cant remember off the top of my head but you should have the option to do a custom installation and point the installer to the folder.

I have mine installed D:\fsx.

Thanks for the help. I guessd I was still sleeping.

I wouldn't worry about it. Mine is installed in the default directory, on 2 different machines, no, make that 2 and a laptop, and everything is working perfectly, including the PMDG737NGX...

Just be safe and install as PMDG and most other developers recommend. Some day, down the road, you wont regret it! Believe me.
