November 19, 201213 yr Hi, I'm brand new here. I just installed X-Plane 10 on my Windows 7 laptop. I accepted all the updates, so I'm running the latest-and-greatest 10.11. I have a CH Flightstick. I followed the installation instructions for the Flightstick and controller software and Windows sees it and says it is working properly. When I launched X-Plane the very first time, with the Flightstick plugged in, I received a notice that X-Plane detected an uncalibrated joystick and instructed me to calibrate the joystick now by moving the controller through all of its axes several times and then clicking continue. I did this and then proceeded to follow X-Plane's Quick Start instructions by clicking Settings-->Joystick & Equipment. When I move the joystick forward and back, nothing happens. The red bar does not move. I tried clicking "calibrate joystick now," and still the bar doesn't move. I tried exiting out and just trying to fly and nothing happens when I move the joystick. Basically, even though X-Plane said I had an uncalibrated joystick and I calibrated it, it acts as if the joystick isn't even there. Does anyone have any thoughts? I'm extremely frustrated! Thanks in advance
November 19, 201213 yr Hello and welcome, I know there's a solution for GNU/Linux users but you installed Windows 7. In your X-Plane folder, there's a Log.txt file. Can you see if the joystick has been detected by X-Plane ? Georges - OpenStreetMap - Ubuntu GNU/Linux -
November 19, 201213 yr Author MdMax Thank you so much for the quick reply! Actually, I uninstalled the CH control manager software and now everything works fine. Well, at least the joystick works inside the program...I can't seem to keep my wings level so I keep barely getting off the ground and then flipping and crashing. But I think that is an operator error and not an issue with the program or the joystick! Thanks again!
November 19, 201213 yr try flying without real world weather. depending on current weather, it may introduce too much gusts, making the plane very hard and unrealistic to fly (specifically light piston engine aircraft are affected). this is one of the major design flaws of xplane, very frustrating for beginners and real world pilots alike. flying in the same weather conditions in FSX: no problem.
November 19, 201213 yr flying in the same weather conditions in FSX: no problem. Flying in FSX in the middle of a thunderstorm with only minor gusts is unrealistic as well. "Society has become so fake that the truth actually bothers people".
November 19, 201213 yr Commercial Member this is one of the major design flaws of xplane, very frustrating for beginners and real world pilots alike. flying in the same weather conditions in FSX: no problem. And yet you still bought it. Go figure.
November 19, 201213 yr My reply was to explain to a beginner possible reasons for the problem he observed. I own 3 different flight simulators, and like/dislike different features of each one. The flight model in xplane is one of the features I and many other real pilots do NOT "I like". Go figure, or better, go flying instead of starting arguments.
November 19, 201213 yr Author Sorry to have started an arguement :-( As I am flying during the day in clear skies and pretty much no weather I'm 99.9% certain this is an operator error issue.
November 19, 201213 yr another caveat: do NOT install the latest beta update 10.20 or you'll lose sounds, TrackIR support and more.
November 19, 201213 yr I have lost TrackIR in 10.20B2, but not sound. Everything seems to be working, but I don't have a lot of stuff. CH Eclipse Yoke, CH Pedals - both working well and the aircraft I normally fly.... working. Happy camper and I know it's only a matter of time before the TrackIR thing is figured out. I'm even seeing trains on the tracks once in a while! John Wingold

Perhaps you should heed your own advice. another caveat: do NOT install the latest beta update 10.20 or you'll lose sounds, TrackIR support and more. Quite a lot of people don't have the sound problems. I'm curious...what's the "..and more"? What else do we lose in the latest update, besides just TrackIR?
February 19, 201412 yr Hi, i change the joystick to shuttlecock (ch production flight sim yoke) and the situation is all the same! I have newest versiton of XP10, after all updates, I connected first of all joy, next run XP10, it showed information that recognize (do i want calibrate?)- YES, i have to move all axis and click „done”- after that the program is run. But joy doesn’t work all time. when i go settings, all scales are in red colours and are nonactive. what I should to do? thanks Martin:(
