November 19, 201213 yr Hi, Has anyone used osm2xp for creating .bgl files from .osm ? If you have done that have noticed any changes ? I did try but I am not noticing any difference in my home airport . It just creates a 1kb .bgl file and also builds the scenery when you load fsx. November 19, 201213 yr I also have interes for OSM2FSX. Xplane 10 looks great with OSM (open street maps). Please share your knowledge. Ivo Crni
November 19, 201213 yr Author Well I am using JOSM to download the desired vector and want to try this in FSX , osm2xp does create a .bgl file but I am not sure if it's generating any buildings. Ryzen 5 1600x - 16GB DDR4 - RTX 3050 8GB - MSI Gaming Plus
November 19, 201213 yr I wonder how osm works with FSX? Xplane uses OpenScenery buildning (fasades). What fsx have to use? There is no database of buildings? Ivo Crni
November 19, 201213 yr Author there is sbuilderx for FSX but have not used it , yes osm2xp is for x-plane but there new version does contain something for fsx. So right now I am try certain areas of the world like Heathrow London , first I check the default airports in FSX and then download heathrow osm and build and copy the .bgl to the scenery folder and then compare again. So will have to try a few of them and see it exactly does. Ryzen 5 1600x - 16GB DDR4 - RTX 3050 8GB - MSI Gaming Plus
November 19, 201213 yr Hello, The fsx mode is not working right now, i have to fix it and i'm lacking time to do it, as i'm working on another xplane project that i want to finish asap. Now please note that osm2xp is openSource, and if someone wants to work with me on fsx mode, it's greatly welcomed! I've tried to make the code as layered as possible, so the code needed to support a simulator is minimal. here's the current fsx "translator" http://code.google.com/p/osm2xp/source/browse/trunk/osm2xp/src/com/osm2xp/translators/impl/FsxBgTranslatorImpl.java cheers Ben
November 19, 201213 yr Author Hi Ben, The link you provided is a java code which I copied to a text file and named it as fsx.java but how do I run it ? You have done a fantastic job with osm2xp , there are many XPX users who are happy. Ryzen 5 1600x - 16GB DDR4 - RTX 3050 8GB - MSI Gaming Plus
November 19, 201213 yr You can't run it, it's just to show that there's just a few lines of codes to support a simulator, so if someone is interested to help he will see that there's not a lot of work to do
November 19, 201213 yr Author Ohhh ok. I could have helped but I don't know anything about programming . Hope you are able to finish it. Can I ask what XPX thing are you working on ? Ryzen 5 1600x - 16GB DDR4 - RTX 3050 8GB - MSI Gaming Plus
November 19, 201213 yr It's the evolution of my first osm files repository http://scenery.osm2xp.com/ But it will be a lot more than that, more information soon (i hope).
November 19, 201213 yr Author Great, shall be looking forward to the XPX stuff. Ryzen 5 1600x - 16GB DDR4 - RTX 3050 8GB - MSI Gaming Plus
November 19, 201213 yr Author Yep it would be awesome Ryzen 5 1600x - 16GB DDR4 - RTX 3050 8GB - MSI Gaming Plus
November 19, 201213 yr OSM data in FSX would be so good.... try this: (haven't tried myself so far) http://www.flightsim.com/vbfs/fslib.php?searchid=2796463 http://openvfr.freyt.de/magento/index.php/
November 19, 201213 yr try this: (haven't tried myself so far) http://www.flightsim...earchid=2796463 http://openvfr.freyt...ento/index.php/ I know the work of OpenVFR. What I don't like is their products are based on 2011 OSM Files, and I'm pretty sure a lot has changed in my country's OSM Data since then. X-Plane with the latest Data looks wonderful, much better than the default data that came with it, probably 2011 material. Alexis Mefano
