November 28, 201213 yr Author Hi Jim Yes, I guess I'll just do that. Do you think this is why I get that error message? Because that looks like a Win 7 error message. Best regards J
November 29, 201213 yr That probably part of Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributible 2005 as that is used by Windows to install FSX software so that it runs properly. I also had another individual I tried to help and he could not install SP2 either. It appears he once had Acceleration on his system and he forgot about it as he had uninstalled FSX and Acceleration and tried to reinstall. Well, if you don't clean up the registry and remove the old files from the HDD relating to FSX, then SP2 won't install. Once Acceleration is installed (or once was and entries are still in the registry), it will be impossible to install SP2 (and vice-versa). February 16, 201313 yr What I'm getting from this is that when I build my new PC for FSX I should install Win7, Acronis TrueImage (to make restore/rollback easy) bring it up to current patch levels, then install FSX from DVD and the service pack(s), and THEN install add-ons like the PMDG or scenery.
