Can a GFWL account be sold / offered ?...

Featured Replies

In Steam I know it is easy to give away an application you bought to a friend of your in the same platform.

I used GFWL to buy MS FLIGHT (including all add-ons) and FSX Gold early this year, but my complete change of interests in terms of flight simulation and my now full dedication to DCS World, the p-51, and soon to RoF as well turned my account into a completely useless repository of games I do not plan to play anymore.

Question is, for those of you who may have faced a similar situation... Can a GFWL be sold, offered to another user?

You best hold off a while and make sure you don't have another change of heart. It's only Saturday :)

Jcomm... considering how many times you've changed your mind in the last few months, you're better off keeping your GFWL account. You might want to fly FSX again, even if you don't spend any time in Flight.

Nope, not this time ;-)

It's a question of spare time, and DCS + most probably RoF will certainly keep me more than busy...

Actulally, my participation in forums is usually in the inverse proportion to my confidence in being satisfied with a given product, with the exceptional case of MS FLIGHT, which I did support from time zero until the rather unexpected - to me - announcement of the year 2012 (in terms of flight simming...).

The last time this happened was with Aerowinx PS1, then with ELITE. I never considered giving up on ELITE, and was only forced to "abandon" PS1 because of system upgrades that turned it a real PITA to keep operational, and then, PSX is still something I hope will see the light of the day one day....

But I undersatnd your comments :-)

With Portugal being within the EU jurisdiction, you should be able to sell the actual game. Stressing the should because other big platforms already expressed in a polite way that they don't give a.. wet softball of what the EU ruled lately.

So you may not see any 'sell' option in that interface. However, it makes sense and plays fair if you ask the platform operator about it, perhaps with hinting to the latest legal decision of the EU. http://www.computerw...gal_even_online

As ever so often, the platforms play their game as long as nobody takes them to court. Looking at people which already got used to having no rights (rough sum-up) or just don't complain over 'just' 30 Dollars and go to court, the consumer protection agencies may have to fight for what already is EU law. Yes, this takes time and they know that.

For the near future, it makes sense to use a dedicated account for every game you purchase, regardless of the platform. This avoids quite some downsides of the account-linked license model.

Jcomm, you've promised me to stick with FSX. :P Just kidding. But you've said that, on the A2A topic. Remember?

The A2A P-51 is a masterpiece. I believe they're the ** only ** capable of going that far in terms of FSX. Persistent damage models exist for instance in the FSD line of products, good flight models in ReaAir, but that all brought together... just in A2A + FSX...

OTOH X-Plane10 is also a nice platform, and going on yes!

But I should really concentrate, and DCS requires a LOT of concentration while it gives me back all I ask for - precision / accuracy / immersion... Yes the scenery is limited, but so it was in MS FLIGHT when I made it my GA sim of choice before even guessing what was about to happen to it :-(
